After 4 years of ownership, it was time to hand our Claas 960 back to the dealer. It's been a great machine and we never had any bother or hassle with it during it time with us. We hope that it's replacement will live up to the reputation the Claas has set.

It's replacement will be a Krone Big X 580, brave move to leave Claas, and hopefully we won't regret it.

The T7070 had the task of transporting the harvestor to the dealers. The guys had given it a wash before leaving.

While at the Krone dealers, a Krone Big M had just been traded in, funny enough we knew the previous owner and knew it had low hours and been well cared for.  It's one of the last of the Mk1 models made. A deal was done, so we arrived back to the yard with a new machine. It could do with a good clean, but underneath it's been well looked after.

Our new Krone Big X 580 arrived into the dealers just before Christmas. We said we where in no rush to get it up to the yard, and said it could wait to the new year to get PDI'd and delivered.

Some photos of it just after it arrived.

We also made the decision to cut down the size of the fleet a little, with the purchase of the Big M and the new Big X, we realised we would have two tractors sitting in the yard even when we are at our most busiest in the silage season. So we decided to sell one of the TM155's and sadly the Golden Jubilee T6.160. The GB was a great tractor, but we felt it wasn't powerful enough do a lot of the jobs we needed it for and usually choose some of the other tractors in the fleet. So it was to much money to have sitting in the yard .

I'll get some more photos later on.

Great photos and display as always! Was it easy to place the driver in the Big X?

Hi Luke, thanks for your kind words.

Yeah it was pretty easy to get the cab off, it just clicks into place. No screws or anything awkard. It popped off fairly easy and I used a Siku driver which needed a little trimming to get into place correctly, but it's pretty straight forward. Any problems let me know.

Called up to the yard today, not much happening for the moment, noticed we could do with a new power washer, as some of the machinery is carrying around a lot of muck after all the rain we have had of late.

I've been working on a smaller layout over the last 6 months, it's actually based on my grandfathers farm. In real life it only had two buildings, a hay shed and a cow house/milking parlour.

I plan to extend it on my layout to include a smaller 3 bay slatted house and small silage pit. I want to keep it as a small farm and keep some of my older machines and tractors on it. I'll up date this thread as work goes on. For the moment I've sketched out what I want and painted the concrete area.

Our local Newholland dealer called today to say they had a new T7.225 in stock, so I stopped in for a look.

I think they look much better in realality than in some of the photos I had seen.

Few photos of work around the yard that last while. We decided to stone a bit of ground next to the silage pit where we normally park trailers and tankers when they are not in use. Hoping the stones will help keep the ground drier and stop carrying muck onto the lane way.

It has to be said that I like the way you've got your kit weathered up Wayne, not over the top, but just enough to take that newness away from the straight out of the box look :) looking forward to seeing more of your dio and happen some of your classics breaking into a bit of a sweat ;)

Thank you. :)

Yes I like a light bit of weathering on my models, as you said, just enough to take the brand new look of them and add a touch of realisem. I'm not a massive fan of over weathered machinery, I would like to think if I owned any of the models I have on my display in real life, that they would be well looked after.

Ive started to experiment with some weathering kits. It's a fine line between keeping it light and over doing it, but a little practice and I hope to get it right. Below is my attempt at our 7810 work horse. :)

Thanks FB. :)

My shed arrived from Mason Attic on Friday, I must say, their presentation and quality of product really is excellent.

Before ive always made my own sheds from start to finish, but this time I decided to give a pre made building a go. I plan on modifying and converting it into a L shaped building like the sketch below. I'll up date with photos as I go for anyone interested.
