Oops. Seems like I missed your reply first time around Bas, thanks ever so much. Whilst it was a little on the quiet side it was still a great day. Roll on Zwolle!

No problem David :)  It looks the shows have also hard times to get public. Has 2 reasons i think, first to many models are released and second the economic crisis.

For at least the second autumn show running, the weather was absolutely glorious too which I reckon would have definitely made an impact too, albeit much smaller than the two reasons you mention Bas.

Glad you have some more pics to post David, it's always nice to "browse" Spalding from afar. Thanks for taking the trouble to take and share these pics as you have done since Marky used to do it.

Thanks Mark, you're very welcome. Thoroughly enjoying sharing my photographic coverage of the shows I attend as always. :)

Nice photos od the show, David and the conversions using the Britains TW's are coming in thick and fast by the looks of it. Some really nice models for sale up there again this year.

Thanks Tris. There were at least three stands offering a whole host varied and smart conversions on the Britains TW tractors. Looking forward to seeing the creativity of the conversion specialists applied to the recent John Deere releases too. There were several modified examples done in time for Spalding. The Britains Deeres were certainly creating plenty of interest, and the Schuco 7810 was creating quite a "buzz" too. One of my personal favourites from the most recent releases just had to be the older Schuco International 1455. As always there was some absolutely stunning custom builds being offered at the show. :)

My only limitations with such models (and the 8340) is that I assume some mainstream manufacturers will produce one in due course. They can't compete with the quality from Martyn of course but what does it do to the value of the model?

My own opinion is that this is probably inevitable in the future with nearly all of the models custom builders choose to produce. As for the impact on their monetary value, from my own collecting stand point I don't buy models with investment in mind. First and foremost I buy custom built models such as Martyn's because they put the biggest smile on my face, and I gain the most enjoyment from collecting custom built models way over and above any general releases in my bid to build up a collection that is unique and personal to me. There's so much more satisfaction buying a model from the person who created it, and, at shows such as Spalding who will talk enthusiastically to you about exactly how they built the models what parts had to be used and their inspiration for building them in the first place. It adds character and a back story them. That is what I love most about collecting nowadays.

I do fully appreciate from the custom builder's perspective there is the frustration of producing a model a great expense, only for the likes of UH to come along and produce the same model. Potentially devaluing the custom built creation. I believe this discussion created some healthy debate in another thread. I will see if I can find the link to the topic. Each to their own, and whilst i'll continue to cherry pick the general releases to fill gaps in my collection, I know who's models i'd prefer sitting in my cabinets. But that's for another topic. Photographs of my most recent additions to my own collection in due course in the relevant topic. ;)

Last few sets of photographs from Spalding very soon. :)
