catkom3
Hard to say at the mo,but it would probably involve a Vredo, a winch, and a lot of plastacine mixed up to look like very slippery mud, Regards Joe

Guest
Recent maize ground work all done now just been on the phone to Alex at oakleys he will be coming next week to drill 55 acres of fodder beet for me as me and my team are now into first cut silage. Currently doing Knott oak farms 250 acres which is a heavy crop and filling the new silage pit very well hopefully tomorrow will finish there and head back home to do the last of our own first cut which is about 200-250 acres then we have a long list of customers wanting there's done so me and the team will be very busy for a few weeks to come. So far only a few punctures have been holding us back but otherwise everything else is running good. Rain due on Thursday so we got two long days to get all the grass that's been cut cleared away before thursday so going to be late nights I reckon. After going to grasslands show recently and seeing some potentially useful kit on show ive been doing some research and making some phone calls to arrange some demonstrations so watch this space for new kit coming to try out. Both me and Julian from orchard farms enjoyed the day out managed to pick up some good leaflets and see the kit working which was interesting but all costs alot of money though so will have to work more hours before I can afford anything. Guest
With silaging well under way we headed over to Dave creeds at martock to munch off some acres for him before we head over to Oakleys tonight ready for some silaging for the AD plant at orchard farms tomorrow with alex putting two of his tractors on two of my trailers. Next few days will see my lads do some round baling and wrapping and also cultivate a small field back at ash ready for fodder beet so the team are all busy and so far no major problems have occurred only a small puncture on a tractor but so far so good lets hope for a smooth season

Guest
Sunday evening seen us take forager and rake and 3 trailers to oakleys ready for silaging for the AD plant at orchard farms. Monday only got 30acres cut due to downpour of rain hoping to go cutting tomorrow and start picking up Thursday if no more rain comes. While dropping kit at oakleys Alex was getting his power harrow and maize drill ready to drill my fodder beet this week so gave us a chance to catch up also Julian from orchard farms popped over to catch up so a good productive meeting to plan the next few weeks ahead was just what we needed so with plans made lets hope things run according to plan. Guest
With first cut silage near complete only two customers left to do and a total of around 300 acres left hopefully we will finish this week If the rain holds off. My lads have been baling and wrapping too keeping customers happy so ive called in Alex from oakleys to drive my forager and bringing with him two tractors and drivers to haul trailers. Alex seems to be settling in well on the forager nice to have the back up when needed. All our spraying and fertilising now up together which frees us up for all the grass work. We've added a towing eye to our 14tonne bailey allowing us to haul two trailers should we need to when working with Alex at Oakleys or Julian at orchard farms. Alex managed to also reposition my additive barrels on my forager to the back where they should be so thanks Alex for doing a smart job. All our kit is going well nothing serious gone wrong. Picked up few metal objects with the metal detector on the forager but no damage thankfully. Hoping the mowers will be out cutting tomorrow at martock then down to Marston magna to finish off first cut.

Guest
Thanks pat its hard question to answer my 16tonne bailey is a nice trailer fitted with extras where as the Stewart trailer is a nice trailer and looks smart but realistically I prefer Stewart trailers. Guest
Been busy few weeks round baling and wrapping well under way which nearly is all up together. Kerry has hitched up our krone big pack square baler today ready to bale some hay this weekend me and the other lads have been out on some second cut silaging at Langport and wrantage ive had a call from Alex needing two tractors and trailers Monday to Wednesday so a good weekend will get us up together. Alex is having an open evening tonight so ive called all my staff back to finish early to go and support Alex and have a go at skittles see if we cant beat a few teams also good chance to catch up with Alex and Julian and all the staff. A busy time ahead will see us in second cut silage and also harvest 2015 is fast approaching so fingers crossed all will go smoothly for us all especially for both Alex at Oakleys and Julian at orchard farm. We will be on standby ready to go and help them both out if and when needed. All my fleet are performing well and no major set backs as yet. I think the next expensive purchase will be two tyres for our older bailey silage trailer but id rather be road legal so its a needs must. We are currently looking into purchasing another silage trailer so ive been carefully looking at a few quotes ive had arrive so hopefully we might soon have a 4th trailer but which one will soon be revealed. Guest
Ive recently been looking around my yard at all ky machinery etc and seeing if we don't need anything that we don't use much and one of the items we hardly use is our 3year old elevator we only really use it for fodder beet loading lorries or stacking beet in our clamp so with it not being used as much Alex from Oakleys made me an offer so will be delivering it to him tomorrow morning so will be putting the money into a new more useful machine. Another job I carried out today was hauling back some of my potato boxes ready for harvest time also gave me a chance to road test our new bale trailer which we brought two months ago but not hardly used it till now so having bales to haul around and boxes to move it will give the trailer a chance to earn it keep. Guest
No your right pat its a rare occasion to get a fleet photo but as we wanted to support Alex at Oakley farms on his open day my team all wanted to go so we all finished together to go out for the evening
Guest
With alex and Julian short of help for silaging I took over two tractors and trailers and our rake to help them clear it all asap before rain comes in Friday. The rest of my team are finishing off some baling hay and getting it stacked into sheds for customers only a small knotter problem occurrd on my krone big pack today but luckily all the kit is running nicely which is a god send when the work load is really heavy. With our jcb tm320 coming up 3 years old now I've been looking into trading it in for a new machine but might try some other machines on demo see if anything else performs any better as an all round machine so watch this space. Guest
With the lads out on second cut silaging I was back in the yard taking the kit off our older 6210r john Deere as our new fendt 828 turned up today we decided to go with the 828 due to good back up and good service from drews of dinton but main reason was the poor old 6210r had few problems and wasn't quite enough horsepower for us. Zac who drove the 6210r will now be the proud driver of the new 828 so now he has more hp and a bigger size tractor his list of jobs will increase only in the terms of helping out Kerry who drives the mighty 939 so having two big tractors is far more useful and with potentially more new kit arriving later this season will certainly see the two tractors in good use. We are keeping the cat challenger which is staying on cultivation and ploughing duties on the farm which frees up the rest of the fleet for harvest and maize harvesting. No other tractors will be changed till later date everything seems to be running really smoothly. All that's left to do is of course add my personal touch to zacs new tractor of course cb and aerials Michelin man air horns and yes of course a twin bar beacon and sign writing. Jobs this week involve silaging maybe some baling and replace two tyres on our older 14tonner bailey silage trailer and got some verges to trim to tidy up ready for harvest time. Guest
Since last update we have finished all second cut silage so all the kit has arrived back. Kerry has been out finishing off baling hay while me and zac been out stacking the hay into sheds before it gets wet. Zacs been enjoying his new fendt 828 not missing his john Deere 6210r though. We've ordered a new buckrake for the jcb shovel nice new fold out one and also Alex from oakleys has been modifying my tractor mounted buckrake so they both should be here by the weekend. Our jcb shovel has been in smarts for big service which is also due back this week so alot of hauling jobs to do. Also got to get all trailers ready for harvest and all tractors ready as its going to be a manic time ahead. Also a new machine has been ordered which has arrived at Oakleys for some adjustments just in time ready for harvest season so watch this space for the arrival of the mystery machine. Guest
All hay now baled and stacked in sheds so the baler has been cleaned out serviced and put in shed till its next needed. While the lads have been servicing the grass kit and the aw rootcrop trailer ive been busy with zac re landscaping part of the yard and moving a few things around. We cleared the area beside the silage clamp cut the grass tidy and using it for trailer parking. Also I decided to move the water tank over to the grass bank where its more accessible for the sprayer. A recent trip to oakleys saw our buckrakes have some modifications and resprays and given a new lease of life. Alex needed an extra trailer for upcoming harvest season so ive lent him our bailey beeteaper trailer for the time being and our aw ultima will be on standby should he need extra help. Next jobs on the list are some 3rd cut silage and then into wholecrop.hopefully my order of a new wholecrop header will see it arrive in good time before we start. Lets hope the rain will ease off and see the sunshine come back so we can get back out and do some more work before we get bogged down with too much.
