CCF
Wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. Just change the engine oil and try starting it. If it runs ok, make sure when you turn it off that you turn off the fuel tap if it has one. It may be that the carburettor float, shut off jet has allowed fuel past it when it's been standing. Only needs a minute amount of dirt under it to make it leak. If its a carburettor with a diaphragm to control fuel flow , ie like a chainsaw type carb, then the same applies or the diaphragm may be leaking. This sort of thing isn't unexpected with a machine that has been standing. I'll give you 10/10 for checking it though. Most people don't bother and wreck their engine. P.S. I amongst other things am a trained mechanic so trust me, Thanks mate, so basically I should be fine once I give the engine an oil change? britainswomble
Thanks mate, so basically I should be fine once I give the engine an oil change? Shouldn't have a problem once the oil's been changed, but just keep an eye on the oil, the next few times you use it. If it has a fuel tap; turn it off once you've finished using it. If not and it happens again, then the carburettor will need to be cleaned out or serviced. If it runs ok there shouldn't be a problem. Good luck. Gav836
Insurance qoutes for my Land Rover, so far there's ?250 difference between the cheapest (Budget) and the dearest (Norwich Union), my current firm (NFU) sits half way between the two. The one drawback to having a van bodied Defender is that not everyone will insure it so I'm a bit more limited than some people as to who I can go with
