1/32 Renault T Tridem with Pezzaioli Wagon and Drag

Recommended Posts

My biggest project this summer was this Renault Tridem livestock truck. Due to the lack of suitable donor models every part is scratch built.

Start point was the cab sides, and then the grille. Luckily there is a blueprint for the T series cab available online which makes life easier.

Its then a case of adding various bits that look right as the 3D shape is built up.

Any material that could be made to suit was used from Mountboard for the main body to plasticard for the rear pressed pannel to heavy weight paper for the roof detailing

A few stages of filler and primer and its starting to look like a cab

I had really wanted a new Renault to arrive when Welly updated there trucks, since that didn't happen I snatched at the chance to build this truck so I could have a cast cab for my own builds.

With a coat of paint on prep for moulding began. The mould made is a squash mould, with the outer mould being made first. The pictures show blocking up the windscreen, rasing the cab off the base, adding the venting routes and the mould keys for the two parts to locate. The cab is then boxed up and the silicone poured. Left to set, the bits that aren't cab or vents ate removed and the mould turned upside down as the second part is poured

The resin parts can then be cast ready to use.

Work could now focus on the bodies which are all plastic. Again start point is the sides, then frame work, grill detailling and then everything was bought together. The customer requested lifting decks so that has been built into the framework using small hooks.

Fantastic work, love the moving ramps and doors, makes the model that bit more special even if those features aren't always seen.

Cheers Martin, was really pleased the customer wanted to go all out feature wise with this one, an enjoyable challenge.
