Powerstarâ„¢
It's a nice tractor to drive, good visibility and that, but basically it's all plasticy and cheap inside and it's a gutless 4 cylinder. When the 34 tyres run down it's going to be replaced with 38's But I might change my mind on Massey's after I've been hauling mushroom compost in that 6280 for a few weeks

Pingu
What i meant ol is the modern 64's have rubbish perkin motors the old 62's were good as long as the power was used unlike which some people do by putting 140hp on 4 furrows on light land \ \ . Make any more sense? if not just say and i will correct myself :D
Light Land
Well what good is a strong tractor that can't do light dutys aswell??. One of the 716's were I work spends 50% of it's time on the carrot lifter and the other 50% of it's time on the de-stoner the tractor is under no hard load doing any of them jobs all it is doing is spining the PTO at 1300rpms. I dont remember saying that or is that a sum-up of the above post ??? may get a numpty for that But i very much agree that some tractors can do light jobs that dont test it some take it very well some dont what i meant by 140hp on 4 furrows is that on perkins motors it doesnt do them much good as they never really recover \ \ but a deutz engine in the 716 is very much a better engine and will easily cope with this and not suffer too much. The sisu motors do well know one in a MF 8170 that spent a season or so doing bugger all hard work on fert spinner and a 10 ton trailer did 100 hrs on them then following season it was put on 8 furrow reversible by its new owner and pulled like a train * What i was getting at is that some tractors and engines manage light work better then others if i make any more sense now : if thats possible for a penguin
Light Land
We got there in the end hey. One of the things I like about working with root crops is the fact the tractor is not working with it's ring out all day. 1300-1800rpms and often 2.5kph with zero wheel slip is fine by me. Pingu
Yer finally sorry for being so slow :D I'd love to work with root crops one day just to get the experience with them :) Always done heavy arable work with high wheelslip (well to a limit ha ha!) and trying to go as fast as possible :D
nashmach
Wonder why they didn't go for a 5400 at this power range as a 6400 would seem very over spec for sub 100hp
