MJB1
i have built a prototype 1 tonne potato box based on mjb1 measurements that i acquired from FB that were made by marky looks good reece , but haveing seperate planks maybe time consuming , as for stain , forget it , just rub them over with proper dirt http://www.farmtoysforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=4260.
FB
yeah individual planks takes for ever :D, i started one ages ago and its was not easy using a craft knife and thats how i got Marky involved. We looked at the plank style, but for the sake of some detail it was easier and quicker to make it from sheets ;D
Spud
yea im not going to make all of them planks but i will probly do 25 or so then just to solid 1's cheers Reece
FB
i found it hard to get the correct spacing and gap between them, another reason i gave up. If you have the tools though i guess its easier
Lord Ferguson
That looks really great Reece... They look sooooo much better "in the plank" so to speak... mine were pants really... but I made about 350 from memory... :'( :'( Kills your fingers :'( :'( Marcus's dirt idea is a corker... what better than the real thing I say As for Balsa... have you tried spruce... it was much better to use and it was a little heavier I seem to recall \ - Just a thought \

PDH
Here's a couple of photo's of the two versions of potato box I made in spruce. It's a nicer material than balsa and you don't really need to paint/colour it.
