Haymaking so early ?

I was a bit surprised when I'd trekked over to Anglesey on tuesday evening to see a 56-reg JD6420+loader & Fraser flatbed trailer go into the gate just after me - even more surprised to see an old Deutz & hay turner dissapear out of the base ....

Next day it became clear they were haymaking on the airfield !

JD66-- + Welger baler, JD7710 cutting, the Deutz turning

Well, they were taking proper big round bales away.

Short grass helps keeps the birds from settling and easier to clear.

They don't do the engine or airframe much good even at take-off speeds

(as we keep finding out !)
