massey 698t or 699?
MJB1 replied to Tractorman810's topic in Latest Tractor Conversions & Scratch Builds
looked good , sounded good , shame the cabs wernt built to last , all it really needed was to have a gearchange on the right ,instead of the middle of the floor -
leaps & bounds mate ,looking really good

massey 698t or 699?
MJB1 replied to Tractorman810's topic in Latest Tractor Conversions & Scratch Builds
looking a bit tall & short for a 6 cyl sean so i'd go with the 698T -
think mrs F's are from tears of laughter in you case marky ! :D :D
-
Ah so this is where it all stared , but i'll not rush you to change it back , afterall there's a hint of truth in every lie ! KNOB THAT WOULD MAKE A DONKEY CRY , ME ! :D :D

considering i'm usually seans devils advocate for wheels , i think i should now step in & say some thing , ere they'm wheels be an backwards theesnow ! :D all depends what the ground on the farm is like as i dare say you could specify what size you'd like to suit your needs hardly going to ask for thin tures if there's a chance of sinking every time the tanks full , keep them as they are sean make an 800 out of her here's what i got on mine , next to the standard as a comparison

think i always messed about with the settings all day long to get a better job done & when you've got it right , you feel better for taking the time to do it as well as for the zetor's marky , basic & unreliable , on the whole , but like anything , any machine will go wrong if not looked after properly , & most zetors were stockman tractors anyway , although there is a farmer nearby , who has a couple of 6000series JD & ford & a mf 698 T , but a zetor 8045 still runs the jag forager at silage time !
-
no he'e not marky , i drove zetors for dawes , 9045, 14145 & 12545 , with the duncan cab fitted (the later crystals) & they were pretty much unstoppable , the 14145 would pull a loaded 2000gal tanker & five leg flat lift injector at a depth of 16in on the hills around totnes & to be fair , they were hills that i wasnt over impressed to be having to drive on but the zetors went up & down everywhere , , the 1884 were stuggling as were the fendts , thats why we had the zetors in , but soon as they hit tarmac they fall to bits give them their due , they were pretty awsome to see working & fitted with the michilin MX's pretty unstoppable
-
shop keeper yes sir & what can i do for you ? marky i'd like to but a new siku deutz please shopkeeper there you go sir ! marky and another one please but could you please put it in a plain brown paper bag please ?* marky strart to go red * shop keeper but of course sir *he replies with a conspiritual wink * :D

SIMPLY BECAUSE THE 390 /390t IS TOO EXPENSIVE (oops i'll stop shouting) & finding a decent one is going to be hard work , put simply the 300 series was a stockmans tractor , where as it's brother equivelent the 3070 was more arable / cropping tractor , so trying to find a decent 390 that hasn't been eaten away with the proverbial FYM will be something of a novelty remember that people who mainly with things on four legs arn't the best people to trust with anything with four wheels . On tha other hand the ford 7740 wa enjoyed by stock farm & arable farms alike , so finding a decent 7740 will be easier , unless of course a 3070/ 75 is available , the 390 is a great tractor , but if i had to choose which to spend a working day in it would be the 7740 i'm afraid
-
the 3075 would be even better as yes it was fitted with dynashft, not so sure about having a shuttle though, the later ones may have done , but it's a good little tractor & just like the 7740 engine its bombproof as well ,yes it is in effect the same as a 390T, i once had an MF 3065 & it pulled a 4F rev no problem , but it needed some front weights as she'd dance a bit just got to find one with a good cab , if you go for the 7740 you got to make sure the dual power works ok as the later ones had probems i've heard , i drove one of a 7740 when they came out & it wasn't fitted with dual power but it pulled well but i fancy the gearing was a bit too spaced out to keep it moving when hauling silage trailers , to low a comfortable gear & the engine was racing & the next gear was too much for it , it was an SL not an SLE
-
theres a farm right on the A303 that use a couple of chaser bins for exactly that same reason , trying to get onto a single lane main road is no fun in the summer the bins are pulled my big Case tractors but i have no idea what models they are , but they must 300hp +
-
still think a 3070 would be a good buy, bit shorter than the ford which makes it ideal for a loader tractor , trouble is it'll be the same as the ford , finding a good one that hasn't been abused at reasonable money ,it's probably one of the most sought after HP brackets which makes good ones elusive to people with a budget.

MJB1 replied to Tractorman810's topic in Latest Tractor Conversions & Scratch Builds
