  1. I was reliably informed during the summer that although Colm's neighbour's tractor was viewed and photographed by the Ros people, the model is based on measurements from another tractor in the midlands, possibly the one Paul has posted. This would account for the slight difference in the grille guard and the mirrors and whatever other differences might emerge. As for the decals, they are easily switched by Ros to give whichever version they wanted. My opinion on the exhaust is that they tried to slope it forward a bit like the exhaust on most Fiats, but unfortunately the seem to have overdone it. However it may be possible to rectify this and to me it will not take from the model, which I have had on order for a while now and hope to get this week.
  2. I know exactly what he would say - Feckin' Rockin' Horses!!!! :D
  3. Hear hear, are the black and yellow ones new editions or the same as the ones launched last year? Did anyone get their hands on the limited edition Siku Valtras, Heard there were long queues for them and it was strictly one per person, so no hope of the usual dealers having a stock :(
  4. Money can't be that scarce with ya that you couldn't stretch to buy the tractor you want, its a false economy to settle for second best. Anyway you know my opinion on 7810s, unfortunately they never made any with crash boxes, so I recommend a nice Valmet 6600
  5. I have all three. Custom Cutters is by far the best with plenty of extras besides the actual programme. Yellow Trail is interesting to put a historical perspective on things and see how things were done in the seventies, but is shorter than the others.
  6. He'll be bad enough without you going changing his name! ;)
  7. Nice, definitely on my list of things to buy :)
  8. Nice seleection of gear you have photographed there Fintan. What areas of Ireland do you travel around?

    silage

We put our first cut in the pit Friday evening and Saturday morning. Didn't get to take many pics as was flat out with the Valtra 6550 and Dooley twin axle trailer, but I'll put the best of them up:
  10. Nooo! you can't call her Frank, that's a boys name :o Call her Mary-Ellen instead *
  11. Where do you draw the line though Rich? Pretty soon it becomes unreadable, especially for people with reading difficulties or poor eyesight. Its not going to kill you to type a few extra letters is it?

    Ford 7400

7400s were also assembled from kits in Ireland by McGee's of Ardee back in the day, mostly/all Q cab versions though I think. That one is probaby of continental origin though
  13. Well were're getting new forum software as well I believe Ben, so that will probably change everything around again \ Anyway enough OT [
  14. You forgot to tell us about the tyre options Marky. I agree with the others about needing tose two extra front work lights just to fill the gaps in the roof panel. i wouldn't be too bothered abot the twin beacons though \
  15. That's actually a watermark/signature on the photo :
  16. My guess is the axle isn't sitting correctly in the photo, making the mudguards look odd. I wouldn't see any problem with leaving mudguards on a loader tractor myself \
  17. I like the JCBs Steven but I meant how did you get the pictures so they become larger when you click on them?
  18. Very fancy with the photos Steven, how did you do that?
  19. You can't go around rescuing every old heap of scrap that comes your way. If you want to do up a 2640 I suggest you look for a good 'un. Anyway, when you've had that nice new Massey for a few weeks you'll forget all about this old heap ;D
  20. Any reason for ploughing the game cover so shallow Simon?
  21. My personal favourite has to be drawing silage, nothing like going off for a day exploring new roads and farmyards, plus you're always moving so it never gets boring. Here's a pic of the 6650 at our own last year: After that I enjoy baling, wrapping silage and ploughing.
  22. Chopped up sisal twine might work well for straw? Hard to get nowadays though \
  23. Yeah the 6850 is 4cyl. A local contractor used one up to last year as his main tractor, baling silage with a Claas Rolant 250RC, also ploughing with a 4 furrow reversible and sowing with a 3m Lely/Accord one pass combination. I did a bit of wrapping with it last year and its a nice tractor to drive. Our 6650 does all our baling and has never been stuck for power, although maybe you make bigger bales over there? On price, I could only guess but this one is on tractorpool.co.uk at the moment: http://www5.tractorpool.co.uk/suche/detail.php?masch_id=841195
