  1. I will be watching these two with interest, I would really like to get a set.
  2. Only all the tractor manufacturers, and Ken Black, and all the little guys who are usually down the back of the retail area. Personally I will be missing it this year for the first time since 1992, excluding foot & mouth when it was cancelled of course .
  3. Would it be possible to braze it? Otherwise studlock should hold it on well enough for light use.
  4. Typical. The valmet got through, it was the bloody trailer that let the side down!
  5. For a tractor to be abandoned like that there must have been some pretty catastrophic mechanical failure surely? If you really wanted to do one up you would be a lot better off look for one that is complete and running, even if it costs more to begin with it would probably be cheaper in the long run. I'm always amazed when I read in the magazines stories about people bringing complete wrecks back from the dead when they are not even particularly scarce or desirable models. Two recent examples in Classic Tractor in the last 6 months or so have been a DB 996? with Sekura cab, and even worse a Leyland that a guy bought on ebay as a complete dog. Both would have been better off to scrap them and look for better examples to preserve. PS good pics Paul, especially like the one of the old IH combine
  6. Did you consider putting the Valmet bonnet on the Volvo chassis I see in the background? This would give a better representation of the real machine which was after all a Volvo with Valmet tinwork put on.
  7. I've had a look in the 'archives' and I have to say that you are absolutely correct, it is more of a subframe than just side rails, though from some angles you wouldn't tell the difference. I was just working off the top of my head before. Me and my big mouth eh?
  8. It does a bit but there's definitely something different about the frame supporting the engine, 8100s just had a plate running from bell housing to tombstone on each side. I wonder if its a New Holland engine shoehorned in there?
  9. The legs are for a back actor attachment that comes on some versions, I have gotten two over the years, one with back actor and one without. I removed the back actor as it was a bit crap, the other one I started to put the mechanism of a battery powered Ertl Case (4884?) in, but never finished it. It is from the same series as the Ford 8630.
  10. Perhaps ironically the price of the book has gone up :
  11. How long before Silver Jubilee conversions/resprays start popping up I wonder?
  12. IMHO it's designed to be turned upside down to suit a continental style hitch
  13. "Powerful hydraulics Mark Channell, Agricultural Contractor, Cambridge, UK “An important role for our MF 5480 is powering a hydraulically-driven waste baler. We specified Closed Centre Load Sensing hydraulics with 110l/min flow, which has improved cycle times considerably – we have gone from 35 minutes per bale to as little as 20 minutes†comments Mark. “The generous hydraulic capacity has also speeded cycle times with our MF 955 loader, which is used for tasks such as moving topsoil as well as in the waste recycling operation, and when working around the confines of the yard, the tractor is also highly manoeuvrable.†“This tractor ticks all the boxes – it is exactly what my business needs.†and on fuel economy... “The 145hp MF 5480 is very economical on fuel, at least as good as my previous tractor which was just 90hp. “There is ample power for the job which means the tractor is not working as hard and uses less fuel.†Did you make up all these lies yourself Mark or did Massey do it for you?? ;D
  14. Two nice conversions you have created there. Those big boots make the 805 look more like a 905, though they had a longer bonnet. The Joal base being 1/35 always looks a bit small when used on a 1/32 chassis, these new 6850s from UH should provide the opportunity to make some nice models of the old square bonnet 50 series, especially the 6cyl ones on the T series chassis.
  15. Indeed, it aappears that the quote button has moved from to the top of the posts from the bottom where it used to be back I were a lad. On topic: Another great issue Rory, I just wish i could have finished last month's before it was time to buy the next one
  16. That jumped straight out at me actually, had a feeling it was just a photoshopping error. You often see stuff like that in sales literature where photos of older models are used with updated decals or changed to a different colour. Just computer jiggery-pokery really.
  17. And some of his Valmet collection
  18. Here's a few of what I took, it wasn't easy take good ones through the glass \
  19. If you ask nicely I might put some up ;)
  20. I might go on the Sunday morning. Only have a half notion how to get there though \
