Logs until it started raining heavily and then in the shed in the dry doing kindling. Dropped Super Pup off at kennels for the night and for tomorrow, now since tea time we've been re-decorating all the knocks and bumps and any cracks and so on. Gradually getting round the whole house now in time for Christmas.

Hay to Wales as was yesterday only today I had a backload of 1 MF165, 2 MF590's and two Caterpillar...... Boots! Seller was at work in Newport just off the motorway so dived in and picked them up on my return trip. Now having a 30 in Leigh Delamare before trundling back to the yard and hone to do a bit of touching in around the hall, stairs and landing. Front bedroom is now finished apart from furniture and soft furniture.

Had a nice stroll along the K&A this morning with friends and digs, followed by a cooked breakfast at the ever famous Lock Inn Cafe.... Scrumdiddlyumptious! Shopping. DIY. Bit of Tele and now, bed.

European trucks have night heaters (a new phenomenon in the US where until recently they left their trucks on idle all night!) which can be set up just like a house central heating system. You set your desired temperature, the time at which you want it to kick in and again to kick out. In a 4 series Scania it is all wired up to an alarm clock and also the radio, as long as the radio turns off on the ignition. So, with the engine off for the night I can set (on a small digital console) when I want the heatet to come on and go off during the night. If I'd like it to come on before I get up, set the alarm clock and set the radio to come on with the alarm. All quite nifty really! Only thing is, the glow plug in the diesel fuelled heating element is kaput in this one so no heater at the moment. Thankfully, trucks are well sound proofed and hold heat well and I have a cosy, ex army sleeping bag which I can honestly say I have never been cold in, in a truck, a barn, or outside!

As little as possible! When I was out full time I was geared up for it, digi Tele etc but now there is no point as I am not the only driver of the lorry, nor do I drive iy enough. Truck magazine, a paper, smart phone and bed, that's about it mate!

The lampost isn't on but it's in the way of any would be cars getting along side the tank to try the same trick. Whilst they'd try almost anything, they still don't want to get caught so any hassle is a no-no. Alternator brushes had burned out but the nuts sheared off the brush pack so he stuck a new alternator on.

She'll carry 700L between two tanks, Barry. This visit was 587L and the price was on the pump but it will be cheaper than that as we use Keyfuels which is a fuel bunkering account network which individual truckstops, garages etc sign up to. Shame you can't use your Nectar card in conjunction with fuel purchases as this was a BP stop!! Since filling up yesterday I have done 855 kms and the guage is about half so at a guess I have used 350L? Works out at 7mpg ish which doesn't sound much to, lots of traffic stop starting yesterday and two cross country trips today dragged it down a bit I'd guess. I'll see how much it takes to drag a load of hay to Aberystwyth next week!

Well after three hours and a new alternator fitted care of Scania Assistance I carried on back to the yard to unload the scrappers I had on board. Reloaded with parts and now parked up for the night near the saleground. Hope to get tipped and reloaded pretty sharpish and then head back to yard, tip and reload with straw up at a farm near Marlborough.

I did have the engine running just beforehand so I wondered if they came into the layby on the off chance, seeing a chance they took it maybe? Either way, tonight I am parked up with a lamp post right by the tank for a bit of hopeful added security!

I didn't think I would to be honest, Sue. It was only 8.30 when it happened, I guess we expect it in the middle of the small hours but not as early as that. I did actually sleep straight through to the alarm from about 9.30pm so it wasn't too bad. Woke to see both fuel caps in place, locked and the fuel guage still reading the same. I filled up yesterday.... £885's worth, had used just under half by the time I'd pulled up for the say.

Not a lot so far! Got up at 5am and left where I was half an hour later. Now parked up near Faringdon with some warning lights on for water, battery and no rev counter, possibly alternator trouble. Not having a lot of luck at the moment. Dreading what the 3rd thing will be!!
