  1. Does anybody know the real story behind the decision to include Siku-style front linkage on this was? Only just noticed that the two 8R JDs in the catalogue have front weights so no tractors (excluding the JCBs) have a front linkage. Fair enough (though unlikely) if they were helping the collector by allowing him to put on front-mounted Siku implements, but if so then why only do it on the one model? And if there were plans to reintroduce Britains front-mounted implements, why was it nixed?
  2. FNHIR

    Fiat anyone?

My aunt's husband used to sell these in the late 80s/early 90s, not a 'proper' dealership but rather as a sideline to his own farm, I used to love poring over the brochures that always seemed to have pictures taken at sunset, making the tractors look even better!
  3. Fully agree, Britains really dropped the ball when they put those tyres on the 7920 as they spoiled an otherwise-fine tractor, but to bring out a 7820 which was just a redecal and had the same tyres was bordering on criminal!
  4. Probably a case of using rose-tinted glasses but those older ads seem to have more character than those of modern tractors!
  5. Great to see some old iron still going strong! Will you be converting a Britains 956XL to 2wd to represent the real one?
  6. Tough to combine it all, best of luck with the basketball!
  7. It would seem so, for his sins! (I jest, I love Galway, spent a very pleasant few days there with herself quite recently, though I was disappointed to find Model World closed down)
  8. I was unable to get the screws fixing the tractor to the base off with a screwdriver, had to resort to a less subtle mode of separating them
  9. Being pedantic I know (and this will probably dredge up memories for members of a certain vintage!) but the Ford 40 series with blue chasses had white roofs, the later versions with blue roofs had grey chasses before the New Holland decals replaced Ford. Good job otherwise!
  10. You going to try modifying the Keenan so the feed comes out the side?
  11. Can't wait to see how this progresses! Does the JD pickup connect to the Claas easily or did it need manipulation? Will you be painting it?
  12. I'm pretty sure we've had a topic like this before but I can't find it, anyway no harm in having a fresh one for newer members. We all have that one model (or maybe even two or three) in our collection that we have a soft spot for. For me, it's the resin New Holland TG285 that was only given to NH dealers at a meeting in 2002, 800 were made. Having been a big Ford fan, most of the modern NHs had left me fairly unimpressed but this really caught my attention and helped to reignite my interest. Ended up paying about €200 for one on eBay but delighted to have done so
  13. I'd say half of Cavan was there going by reports! Believe it or not I actually played in Croke Park on Wednesday night, was marking Nicholas Walsh for a bit, what a tank of a man!
  14. Don't be getting too hubristic, ye're in Division 2 next year after all
  15. I've often wondered Ploughmaster - do you have all that information written down or do you carry it around in your head?!
  16. His topic of items for sale hasn't seen action in a year, might PM him, cheers!
  17. Agree with CP that Killeshandra is a lovely name, and building the yard will take your mind off the hammering that Galway gave Cavan's U21s last week
