I look for a reliable machine that will do all I require. Price within reason is not a crucial factor. As I drive it myself, comfort and ease of use is important. Tyres are specced. to suit you on whatever machine you buy.
Looks not so important but lots of guys round here who buy a tractor for an employee to sit on find that if he doesn't like the looks of it, it won't ever 'go properly'. Trade in depends on timing - I got a great price for the 8360 as it was in demand - if export is flat, price drops. Some makers claim good resale value, but if you're paying £8k - £10k more for same spec tractor, you would hope so!.

I had a couple of days off this week and got the chance to read it cover to cover at one sitting - brilliant.
-
Great set of photos - no need for me to post any now.
It was a good event, I think there was more machinery than ever there this year.
-
On the subject of dog doo doo, a guy parks his car outside the farm gates, lets the dogs out and on of 'em dumps on the grass I'm cutting so I shout at him to scoop it - get a pile of verbal back.
Hope he has to use his windscreen wipers on the way home.
-
I've finally located some roofers who I feel confident can do a good job of the stone roof.......
Looks like you've got the right man for the job, that looks very tidy so far.
-
Exterminating wild oats. ;D
-
We have an old wood floor Marshall and the red was lighter than the current - tending towards a MF machinery colour.
-
I'd say three weeks is being hopefull Marky, I give it 10 days tops :D
I think a sweep is called for. Bet it's the 'big cheese' himself who actually does it.
I'm sure it would run fine on red
-
I guess you will be hoping for 'dust' now as well John :D
Only 3mm so it'll be dust again soon
-
Cheers TM and everyone who voted.
Thought CJ was going to steal it though - he got my vote.
-
A lot of work in that and it has paid off - what a great model.
-
A little bit of rain.......
-
Was it a Scmitz John - hope that fert is under lock and key :D
No but it was a German type name - can't remember - sorry!
Unfolded rollers across entrance to shed!
-
Just had some fert delivered in an artic with a moving floor - never seen one before - brilliant idea. Tris will know all about 'em.
-
JDC's sheep will love them :D
Not even a mouthful for a mule ewe

how far up the country is the rain a need some in the carlisle area to make the grass grow bet it forgets to stop when it does come. ???
No rain here for 26 days now - is that officially a drought?
Dry but cool today here.
-
Going to be a good sized clamp
Are the power lines going to have to be moved?
-
Very different.
Did you have to pay congestion charge?
-
Another set of interesting pics Mart.

We worry about a gusty wind stopping us from spraying
How much spray reached the target?

I'll show this post to Mrs F now John...
"It's true Diane.... look.. John knows... he's a REAL farmer" :P
I'll show this to TT - Marky thinks I'm a real farmer ;D

I bought a 9' Major way back when set-aside came in, it cuts around 40 acres a year (grass/clover) plus tops some pasture grass. It's cut some grass which would have made a hay crop and doesn't murmur (pulls the 3065 down). The only thing is the front of the skids wear, but these are easily plated. Wheelings aren't a problem. Spreads the clippings well too.

On the safe limit of the tractor as a whole mate... not just the wheels \
I'll bet you'll find that the tyres are technically the weakest link. You may be close with the axle loading but some of the tyres have surprising low loadings at 40 k (A8) Take the weight of the tractor plus say 3.5 t for you press, divide by two as you say she's light on the front and you will be close!
Even a 10 tonne trailer puts around 2.5t on the drawbar.
So definitely a bigger tractor required ;D

Been laying concrete then floating it, then floating it again after two labradors ambled through it.
