  1. Last two days I've been demolishing an old folks home, my self on the liebherr with demo grab and occasionally my 5 foot bucket, and spud (called spud du to potato shapped head) in the volvo ec460 with shear attachment and hydraulic breaker, building more or less down and will hopefully get the crusher in tomorrow afternoon, and start crushing Thursday morning while spuds sorts through all the steel, might have to get one of you keen Gardeners in as the gardens in a mess now.
  2. depends on how much work comes in, bit of a nightmare when there's two long reach jcb's in the yard as they take up quite a lot of space, got one in just now getting serviced and the others on loan to a company in the place across the Scottish border called England... Never heard of the place. Don't think the yard itself would be big enough for all the machines, so most machines will go from site to site depending on how things work out, but some can be on the same site for 1 day or 1 year only to return to the yard for a full service, hopefully ill manage to get out and about operating the machines, aswell as sitting at a desk, but I'll just have to wait and see
  3. got offerd the chance to buy the company a few years back, but at the time I thought I was a bit young owning a company that size, the offer came up again as its current owners retiring and his young lad has no interest in taking it on, so I took it, the price was right, the machines, lorrys, offices are all in good condition, just going back to something I find I'm good at and enjoy, roughly 40 excavators from 1.4ton to 50tons, 4 loading shovels, 6 ADT'S, 2 Drotts, 2 CAT D7 Dozers, 3 artic lowloaders, 2 Rigid lowloaders, 5 Tipper Lorrys, fair size bigger than my previous plant company, most of the machines are either Volvo, Cat, Liebherr, Doosan rather than jcb's which a change from what I'm used to but are still good machines.
  4. well the plan of staying in doing nothing has changed, my father phoned asking if i could help knock down one of the old barns, its started sinking years ago and is now to dangerous to attempt to fix it, so drove the van upto his, got my fendt 936 out the shed, hooked up the lowloader and went down and collected the liebherr r926, took it up, managed to get the building down safely, only took about half an hour with the machine, just got to sort through the wood and metal from the stone, once thats done ill break up the old concrete floor and see what he says afterwords, don't know the rules on putting up new sheds,
  5. As of 6 May 2013 the new company will be my company, not sure wether it'll get called HWS Plant, struggling for a name, as we dont do plant hire i cant call it hws plant hire
  6. Powerwashing the liebherr r926 tracked machine, attached the demo grapple for monday, and looked out its sorting grab, and just as I was leaving the yard two artics turned up, one with a js330 and my 8085zts, and the other with the loading shovel and my 3cx, so ended up unloading them and decided to give them a wash too, yards starting to fill up with machines again, doesn't help the js220 long reach machines back, takes up some amount of space, and the haulage side of the company's moved half the lorrys into the plant divisions yard, tommorows just going to be a quiet day at home with Carly, maybe sneek out for a few cheeky pints, I now have the social life of a sponge
  7. Done my first sacking of 2013, found out one of my boys has been stealing company property, a wacker plate and stihl saw went missing off site last night, one of the clients labourers went to cut some steel and it wasn't there, after checking 12 vans, including mine, they were found in his, looking through the CCTV it shows him opening the gates at half 3 this morning, opening the container lifting them into his van with another man, locking up then driving off again, so I sacked him, can't have people working for me stealing from my clients, giving me, and the rest of the company a bad reputation, he said after I kicked him off the site I was being harsh, I thought i was being kind,
  8. The tire on my loadingshovel sort off went flat at around half ten this morning, drove over a bit of reinforcing and punctured the tire, soi I've been sitting in the piece hut since then, doing cross words, making alphabetty spaghetti, moaning, then went out onto the site and shouted at a load off boys for standing around doing nothing... Didn't go down well with the other boys, but I'm the boss, I deserve a break now and again
  9. More digging, site became a swamp once the frost melted, more containers, offices and toilet blocks put in place, a large pile driver has arrived on site, also a tracked crane, which has been "parked" in a stupid place with its jib resting on the deck, a js330 was taken off site, also the liebherr what I was operating and replaced with a doosan loading shovel
  10. Been out working 6 til 5, in the sun, breaking out rock with a jcb js290, while the volvo ec460 cleared the rock into a dumper, got home, shower, s*%t and a shave and went out for a meal with my ever so grumpy girlfriend... Got home from the restraun, straight on eBay ordering a load of ppe, tommorow I've got a small job outside Glasgow to have a look at, then probably back to my digging, busy week ahead, got to have our hole dug out by Thursday, its going to be a struggle.
  11. 50 pairs thermal work gloves, dickies boiler suit, dickies steel toe caps, orange hi-viz jacket and trousers, couple of pairs of socks, bacon cheese burger, bottle of pepsi and a aux to aux cable
  12. More digging today, one of the js330 was out of action due to a hydraulic leak, which ment i was down in the hole digging and manning the spoil heap with the liebherr, going to try and get a loading shovel brought on site tommorow, much quicker loading lorries than with the tracked machine, got a squad of boys coming to install trench sheet things to stop the side of the hole falling in, having to dig much more out due to soft ground
  13. At 4:30 a plant hire lorry came on site with a load of towable light towers, which have since been placed around the areas in which we were digging, along the track what the dumpers are using around the area wher I've got lorrys coming in and where the dumpers are dumping there loads. We were then informed by my boss, that we are going to be working as many hours that we can, which put me in a difficult position as I'm the boss of 6 large weegie plant operators, and I had to tell them that were working 6 hours more a day, never had so many "brutes" give me the look of "I'm going to kill you" before,
  14. Hopefully win a contract for another job that size, doubt I would get a gym pass or anything, that would be up to the clients
  15. full sports centre with 400 parking spaces, large astro turf, indoor football/hockey/badminton hall and running track out side
  16. Currently sunbathing on the back of the liebherr in the positively rosting 4c heat,
  17. I can imagine pretty painfull, been cut a couple of times with the hedge trimmer, but never has anything that bad
  18. T in The Park Line up was announced, my brilliant girlfriend is giving me a couple of days of from child sitting duties to let me go... Will most likely be my last visit to ballado, getting old
  19. Well the js145w and 8085zts turned up on site at 6:04 this morning, 4 minutes late, scraped an area of grass where a couple of containers and site office will be placed, while a squad of boys came in and marked the "hole" in which we are going to start digging in the morning, now this hole is going to hold a full sized swimming pool and a smaller pool, the js330's turned up in the afternoon and the Volvo ADT's arrived a short time after, the 330's are going to be joined by a JCB js290 with a hydraulic breaker and a Volvo ec460... While I play around with a liebherr r926 on the spoil heap, I suspect I'm going to be busy for a couple of days
  20. I personally prefer the other type of porn, but whatever floats your boat I suppose, have to say there's some quite impressive rigs at your work, don't see many that size around my neck of the woods, winter road rescue, quite a good watch aswell, love seeing the boys up in the real roads of Scotland clearing snow with there backhoes, clearing snows difficult enough without having miles of snow upto 5 foot deep and having a massive drop down the side of the road, hold my hat off to the old boys in there diggers
  21. There is no longer a drop of rubble on site, 45 lorry loads went out the gates and of to its new home, the 4 loading shovels (2x Volvo, 1x JCB & 1 Doosan), CAT Drott and the crusher are being kicked off the site some point in the morning and being replaced by 2 JCB JS330 and 2 Volvo ADT's and my JS145w and 8085zts, busy week ahead I think,
  22. Bowsers and shovels filled up to the max with diesel, all systems are go, but only one of the other shovel operators turned up so there's only two of us in, and a boy on a drott but he's got other work to do, might get a 3cx operator out his bed to give us a hand loading the lorrys. Going to be a busy day
