UH 1/16" Ford 5000 Front Wheel Measurement
LeeRoebuck posted a question in Custom Model Methods/Tips/Help
If any one has this model could they do me a huge favour and measure the width of the front wheel rim and the width of the tyre. I was in the model shop on sunday but forgot my ruler and i don't fancy spending £35 on a model that may be no good. I apologise for the make shift picture but hopefully it shows the measurements I need. cheers Lee -
my first tractor conversion
LeeRoebuck replied to FORD+FORDSON's topic in Latest Tractor Conversions & Scratch Builds
Good job there! I bet you learnt alot repainting it, with said knowledge you'll be able to take on to your next convo. Knock some stickers on it and away you go! Good luck! -
David Brown 990, 995 or 996 Finished
LeeRoebuck replied to LeeRoebuck's topic in Latest Tractor Conversions & Scratch Builds
Compared to the half built scaledown 990 I have it is not too far off now. The cab is two or three mm too small I still wonder to this day why Corgi chose such a random scale to make the model in. Haha theres no pulling the wool over your eyes!! I think I might address that as just after I sprayed it, it slid off the hanging wire and took the majority of the paint off the cab roof :-X. Compared to the scaledown bonnet it is pretty much the same height. I had to remove some material away from the original as the "cheeks" of the bonnet were too long for a 990, 5 or 6. Cheers for the comments and it looks like i've got some sanding to do once its dry!!! -
Here's the latest convo that is just about finished, i decided to have a little break from 1/16" modelling. It is based upon the Corgi 1412 it was cut and shortened to make one of the 99x series, I have yet to decide which model to badge it up as. It is fitted with Nigel Fords brilliant wheels and axle from the Scaledown 990. The photographs show most of the chassis is finished and I've sprayed the top bit tonight, the large gaps will go once the bonnet and cab are glued down. The dusk light has darkened the chassis paint somewhat but it is genuine David Brown colour. I will just have to add some finishing touches here and there and refit the cab glass and it will hopefully be finished this week. Cheers Lee

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement regarding this project. Another couple of 1/16" tractors are under way so to free some space up the E27N will be going on ebay tonight. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320273149090&indexURL=0&photoDisplayType=2#ebayphotohosting Thanks again and watch this space -

That Lemken Gigant is something else! Thanks for sharing, I'm off to cry over my plasticard that should resemble something half as good as that lot! -

LeeRoebuck replied to Tractorman810's topic in Latest Tractor Conversions & Scratch Builds
Nice work!! Hows the black plasticard to work with? Is it easy to see curvatures and shape? I've seen it on eBay lately and never used it as i'm still on my white stock pilfered from uni. -
Never knew posting images was such a minefield!

1/16 Fordson E27N Rowcrop
LeeRoebuck replied to LeeRoebuck's topic in Latest Tractor Conversions & Scratch Builds
Hi Marky, believe it or not that model was fresh out of the box!! I had not realised that during the "photoshoot" mind you I was dodging the showers. Thank you for all your kind words and watch this space as there are a couple more 1/16 models coming. Cheers Lee -
Here's my latest conversion, it started life as a UH E27N and I've just got around to finishing. The inspiration for the project was the pictures below of the tractor in "rowcrop" specification. This required the removal of all the hydraulic components, PTO, electrics and the fabrication of a new axle and rear hubs. The standard rear wheels had to have the dishes cut away and turned around with new lugs added as these were destroyed so the dish could remain intact. It was found during the rebuild that the colours UH use are not "original" so the whole model had to be stripped and repainted with the proper colours. The rear tyres were swapped for those off a DOE and a radiator blind was built into the grille to add an extra touch. Inspiration Sadly I didn't take many pictures during the process but the following is the chassis drying on the first thing I found to hang it on, an E27N starting handle! The final pictures: Cheers Lee

I went yesterday, it was a bit of a dark and wet old day. I only took a few pictures but here they are. An awesome looking Deutz, loving the aggressive styling on the bonnet. A Puma 180 from the local dealership Claas Axion, Claas had a really good stand but got sick of people walking into shot so caught this one alone in the corner. A new McCormick, was really surprised to find that the lights had glass covers, bloody awful looking thing though. A Puma 180 on tracks, sorry about the quality. Really was an impressive looking beast. Well there's the few i took, its a great event and best of all its free.

Great News, I'll be having a few of them then, any idea of a release date? Might have a go removing one of those awful square fronts and making a Petrol/TVO model. Not trying to be greedy but fingers crossed for a 1:16 Cropmaster!
-
Does anyone know if the David Brown Cropmaster is going to be released? ebay is going crazy at the minute with some of the hachette models making ?60 plus.

There is a possibility for the David Brown name to comeback, Case have reintroduced the farmall brand in America and continue with the Steiger brand. Although in the UK market the introduction of the David Brown name in this manner would take away from Case's already diluted brand image and as NewHolland are selling twice as many tractors per year we will have to keep everything crossed. I had to ask case if I could use the David Brown name for my final project at uni and they seemed very adamant that I couldn?t make any profit from it!

I think personally one of the main reasons David Brown tractors have been slow to take off in the vintage and classic tractor scene is due to the availability of parts, not so much mechanical but body work and finishing bits. For example Ford and Massey fans have been able to buy everything from complete new bonnets to new wings for a long time. David Brown parts (pre 90 series) on the other hand have only just started to be produced. JWC Industrial Solutions www.jwcindustrial.co.uk has been a massive help in the restoration of our cropmasters and he has just started to produce new Cropmaster wings which look fantastic, although pricey on paper if you look at cropmasters making ?9000 it doesn't look so bad! As for this new "David Brown tractor", I think people are going to look through the watered down brand application and see the Chinese tractors that they are very quickly.

Anyone know when the Saddle Trac Xerion is out?

Dual Drive Ferguson TE20 Tractor Combination!!
LeeRoebuck replied to BGU's topic in Universal Hobbies Models
I think there's a couple of real ones kicking about, one was featured in a tractor mag and in the next issue it was for sale, I think he thought he would make a bomb on it but can remember seeing it in quite a few issues later still for sale. -
1/16 Fordson E27n The fuel line which should run from the "petrol" tank to the fuel tap runs from the fuel tap straight into the spark plug above number 4 piston. I've got two of these and they are both the same. Although I didn't realise until i ripped one of them apart. Apart from that, its a good model. (well apart from the fact they have used a slightly lighter shade of blue)

DAVID BROWN 1390//CASEIH 1394 UPDATE
LeeRoebuck replied to IH885XLMAN's topic in Latest Tractor Conversions & Scratch Builds
Looking very, very nice and really begs the question why RC2 haven't done this already. Is that a 1294 4wd on the box?
