  1. Good pictures. That machine looks to be well kept. It would be interesting to know why he's doing what he's doing
  2. I get "Tractor" about as often as I get "CT" which isn't that often over here. Nearest retailer is 200 miles away (I don't just pop down to the newsagents ) I like it, in some ways, I prefer it to "CT", it seems to cover a wider time span which I'm surprised appeals to me since I profess to have little interest in pre 1965 stuff. My Dad likes to read it and he usually has a tractor related anecdote inspired by an article after he's done reading it. There was some hint in an earlier "Tractor" issue about them widening their scope wasn't there?
  3. Krone Big M The cab isn't attached to the frame, roof and glass lift off. I didn't try to lift it out of the packaging by the cab. I noticed it tilt when I looked under the model trying to get those marvelous wires off and thought, "Wow, tilt cab. Oh, wait, its not meant to do that." I wouldn't want them to compromise the detail for anything but it is a challenge even being able to find a place to pick the model up or move it around to display it to its best advantage without risking bending or breaking anything. Absolutely not a toy
  4. Superb!!! So, whos gonna make a proper "period" MF seat to replace that far too comfy one in the picture?
  5. They're being marketed over here as an alternative for farmers in the mid to smaller acreage bracket. They claim it's more sensible than paying a small fortune for a half worn out huge hi-tech combine that the BTOs have traded in. They might be right, I dunno. I've only ever seen one at a show. Don't know anyone who owns one or even where to find a dealer. They may do okay, Belarus has/had a pretty loyal following out here and the Python combine would probably appeal to those who want to spend as little as possible on machinery.
  6. Well now, I've dealt with a few of those dealers The little NH 479 towards the bottom of the page, we've had 4 of those since we came to Canada. Kinda high maintenance but they get the job done. Sickle-cut machines are no use when the crop is wet and tangled or worse still, when there are mole hills in the hay field, hence the growing popularity of disc mowers.
  7. Funny you should ask about the JD gearbox. I just used my neighbour's 7810 (I think) and that's what's in it. It started its life in Europe somewhere and was imported into Canada as a used tractor for resale about 3 years ago. Kind of a pain isn't it? Always starts off in 1st gear and changes up all the way through the 'box. Can you shut off or bypass that function?
  8. Marky, I am certainly not showing you mine......oh, wait, models?? Oh sure, no probs heh heh Well' a couple of hundred-ish including implements. 1/64 is the scale I was collecting after we came to Canada. I was doing quite nicely with it too, then I discovered FTF and haven't bought any thing in 1/64 for three years. YOU LOT ARE A BAD INFLUENCE!!! I have one or two 1/64 Deutz models, there are more but it's a case of same casting but different decals and you know me, I'm not into that. I'll see what I can dig up when thing slow down here.
  9. I notice on eBay recently, a lot of vintage 143 scale models. Is anyone collecting this branch of the UH tree? What are they like detail and value for money-wise? They're too old for me and I can hardy keep up with the 1/32 stuff so they're not for me but I just wondered what they were like. What about the UH keyrings? Anyone collecting those? There are one or two I'd like to get but I don't know of anyone stocking the full line of UH keyrings.
  10. Great pictures James. Some super restorations there. I'm not a big "Davie Broon" fan but that's a nice looking 885 there. On the 135.......why do some folks spent lots of time and talent doing such a great resto job and then (in my opinion) kinda spoil a good photo opportunity by hanging a ruddy sign in the most inopportune place. It would have made the tractor look a lot nicer if the sign had been leaning against the front wheel. I know, pedantic, but that's me.
  11. It's funny to think that the company that produced that (no offence Marky) is now bringing us some very nicely detailed 1/16 bits and pieces nowadays. I understand that there are some very detailed 1/64 pieces that have been produced in recent years. Just goes to show, there's hope for everyone. Go on Marky, show us some more 1/64 goodies. If there's any interest, I have a couple of hundred 1/64 models stored in the basement that I could photo and post up one day.
  12. The square balers when they worked (depended on what your Mum had for a living-room carpet we always said) and the Lister bale elevator. You could bale and stack hay all day, just like Dad. I can remember always having to have a buckrake on our model farm. I think we always had a buckrake and an MF 135 as "constants" on our carpet farms.
  13. A1 collection there. Do the Farmer+ models have fully glazed cabs or is there no door glass, same as the regular models?
  14. It's very nice to see how your collection has grown Benny. Is that the Britains Valmet in Claas colours I see.....
  15. I have a bit of a soft spot for forage wagons, my family having had one (a Claas T 25 in the mid '80s so I'll be wanting to know what buyers of this one think of it when a few purchases are made. Is there anything else in 1/32 scale that Wiking have made then?

    Sexy ones

Really good pictures. "fraid your idea of sexy and mine aren't the same. Wonder where Mrs TOG is................
  17. Mart, the whole business of buying a used tractor is one big hairy-assed gamble mate. You could do all your homework and drive away with a tractor that will go for another 5000 hours trouble-free or it could die on the way home from the dealership, there's no real way to know. This is all I can tell you having bought about a dozen new/used tractors and too many used implements to count....... Buy what you like. I don't mean, who cares, I mean, buy a tractor that YOU like. Also, leave a little bit aside for repairs. If you buy something because it is a good investment or because "my mate has one and he likes it", when it breaks down, you will HATE it and curse the day you bought it. If something you like breaks down you will be far more forgiving and will be able to work through the problem without wishing you'd never seen the tractor It doesn't matter what colour it is or how many hours are on it, something will break on it sooner or later and (generally) it will cost waaayyy more to repair than you or the mechanic thought. It's good to have a little dosh in the kitty for when that happens. Good luck mate, whatever you buy.
  18. If one of the raffle prizes is a DBP model then I seriously need to know how to buy raffle tickets from here in Canada. I'm not kidding, how do I go about it?!!!!
  19. In no way, shape or form am I complaining Nashmach ;) Long live underwear-size challenged women
  20. Re: the picture Joe posted. I don't wish to sound sexist but have the rest of you noticed that an awful lot of women have a very hard time choosing underwear that fits properly The above problem, bras that are too small etc, what's with that?
  21. Sounds like its gonna be a lot of fun Bill, Mrs TOG and I envy you
  22. Excellent suggestion Belarusfan. Somewhere close to Wiking quality would be fine. I was reading this topic thinking that I had no opinion since UH fullfill my model quality desires but I wasn't thinking 1/87 scale. If I had kids, I'd be buying UH for myself and Siku for junior to play with/collect.
  23. Great pictures indeed. What do you think of the Claas 365 balers? What did you trade in? Sure looks like you look after your stuff.
