  1. Does anybody in North America buy these European versions?
  2. I unboxed quite a few items recently and I seem to remember that the Wiking models were particularly easy to remove. I think it was just moulded polystyrene in two halves. Of course from the manufacturer point of view, it means you can't have a window box. Ertl precisions are that way too. Best way to do it by far in my opinion. I really can't stand how UH wires in their models, it is so easy to break things while removing them. the way they are wired in so tight and wound around the multi-hole base plate drives me nuts. I have to be honest, if the models were the same tractor, I'd buy a Wiking over UH because the quality is the same but packaging is so much better from Wiking. I haven't had trouble removing the wires on DBP models even though they are the same way, they seem to have allowed a little more room to work. It must be a problem repackagingmodels to resell when they are wired in. I feel sorry for the poor dude or dudette who has to wire those UH models onto the bases all day, some job!

So................has anyone got the International 1455 yet or even the Deutz DX230 oh, wait, I'm drooling a little bit, sorry Are they even out yet?
  4. I've thought about this off and on all day and have come to the conclusion that I don't have a favourite make of tractor. I have enjoyed the vast majority of the tractors I have driven with the exception of two that I remember. A John Deere 8430 artic and a Massey Ferguson 2745 both for the same reason, both owners of these tractors put the fear of God into me about the unreliability of the engines in each tractor and I spent the whole time driving them expecting them to blow up! There are many individual stand-outs for me, IH 574, our Deutz DX4.70 and Agrotron 110, a neighbour's DX110, beautiful sound, also his Versatile 875, now there's a tractor! I spent a couple of summers picking around 15,000 small square bales with a New Holland 1032 bale wagon behind a John Deere 720. A pup-starter, a hand clutch, standing up to drive when loaded and a road speed of about 12 MPH but what a sound that old 2 cylinder made all day. Good times. Still, no favourite make though.
  5. Love it! In my end of the world one or both of the rear view mirrors would have become a casualty as would the black mudguard extensions. Also, a bit of silver paint on the left-side grab-handle to make it well-used looking if I remember our 7710. It looks very realistic Lee, great job Bit of useless information here, Fords with that style of cab had, in Canada, a half sliding rear window split vertically. So it's easy to spot the imports that immigrant farmers have brought with them.
  6. Not really, I have a couple from this morning when the rig was static but the light was bad so I was hoping to get something tomorrow when they were seeding unless they're done before I get home from work. I assume you don't want pictures of me an' th' ol' man fencing. I did get a few pictures of other guys seeding on my way to town this evening, I'll try to post them in the next few days.
  7. Well now, I've looked at all your pictures and as someone who has done the 'diorama thing" albeit in a different scale, I have to say, you, sir, are a Master of your craft. My hat goes off to you. This is the best topic I've seen on the forum in years.
  8. Some fence repairs at Dad's, the snow accumulation along the edges of the trees had really pulled it down and slackened it. Also some fence repairs at my place, much easier, out in the open so the field is ready for Lois' horses any time. The young lad who rents the land around our house has started putting down anhydrous ammonia. He's pulling a 40' Morris cultivator with a New Holland TJ450 and, boy, is she growling in places It's a bit too sticky in the low areas and he's having to keep his wits about him.
  9. Thanks for sharing your models. It's nice to see something different. Interesting to see tractors with ROPS frames instead of cabs or just roll bars.

Thanks for the reply. I hope some reviews of the model will be posted when it comes out as I'd be interested in adding it to my collection.
  11. I'm sure I contradict myself every time I reply to one of these topics, anyhoo... Top of the heap has to be a Britains MF 135 from my childhood. It has survived Me, my brother and my nephew and has come away from that needing a new bonnet and an exhaust which I treated it to a couple of years ago. For this model made in the early 1970s to last so long and get so much use as a plaything says so much about the real Britains, best of the best in those days. Dad had a 135 so we put a lot of acres on 'er on the carpet in front of the Wellstood doing what we saw him doing with the real thing all day. From an "adult collector" point of view, it's no contest. I have five County models, 1124, 1174, 1884 1474,and an 1184 and now, a certain BLACK MF 390T . When I started buying these models from David Purdue, I considered them to be the best model tractors available on the market, end of. Now, when I buy a model from David and Amanda, I consider these to be the best models available anywhere that happen to be made by two very good friends of my wife and I. To me, this adds so much to these models.
  12. I sure hope it's a good show, It'll be a long run down from Scotland and I'm hoping for a show with some private sellers/ traders (I have some pieces to trade) and to meet some fellow FTFers. Would be disappointing if it was the usual store with some real tractors on display. I'm also leaving almost all of my model buying until this show so if it's a bust, so is my holiday as far as model purchases too.
  13. I'd like to but we just can't fit it into our schedule. We tried like mad to make it work but family commitments and location at that time makes it impossible. At one time we had even considered me driving the night before from the south of England and my wife (who has never driven on the "other" side of the road) driving us back the following night. It just ain't gonna happen. Work-wise, if the timing of this holiday works out, next time we'd come over a week or two earlier and take in Spalding and Portrush. My boss is much more receptive to extra time off in early spring (for us) and by this time next year, my wife will be working for him too so it'd give us a bit more vacation-time clout.
  14. I'll be in Britain at that time and am planning to go to this show. It'll mean a flying trip down from Scotland the night before but you only live once right?
  15. Put me in the not fussed category. If it comes in a box, I'll keep the box, if it comes with no box, no problem. When I buy on eBay, I bid accordingly regarding box or no box. Has anyone came across this scenario....I purchased a boxed model, not advertised as mint, photographed in the box, thinking that being boxed it would be in very good condition, only to find on recieving it that it was quite play-worn. Not really any deception on the seller's part, almost an unfounded expectation on my part. I suppose I should have split hairs and asked it it was boxed, unopened.
  16. Minus 25 degrees here in Manitoba this morning. Hellooooooooo spring, where are you
  17. JD 9400 (?) series 4WD artic with a Degleman dozer pushing snow in the logging contractor's yard next door to the lumber yard where I work. Man, what a nice throaty bark the engine made
  18. Well now..... went to a toy show which was a bit of a bust, only bought a Britains Case Magnum 305 with the gold hood, used to be in a set with an articulated 4WD too but the 4WD was sold. The 305 was a fiver. Can't go wrong. The day before, I bought from a mate who is downsizing his collection, the following Britains models, all unboxed : Alfa Laval slurry tanker Lely hay turner Blue transport box Muledozer Kverneland 8 furrow plough County 1884 Yellow version The County and the plough are mint and the rest are gently played with. To even find these models in Canada is a rarity, never mind in such good condition. Prices agreed upon were fair but leaning to a good deal for me, he may have done better on eBay but he wanted to sell them to someone who he knew who was going to add to his collection, not to sell them on. He thinks he might even have the box for the County and will send it to me if he finds it. A very decent chap I'd say.
  19. A couple of nice looking classics there, thanks for the pictures.
  20. Watched some football on the box with my Dad this morning then surfed the 'net this afternoon. Couldn't watch TV here, I knocked the satellite dish off the house yesterday while pushing snow away from the house with the tractor. At about 4.00pm I remembered I had cows to haul for neighbours at 1.00pm. abl**dygain !! When I finally got there they were totally cool with it. I said I'd do it for free, not a chance they said, they were here working anyway, knew I'd show up eventually. I still feel like an idiot and didn't really earn the payment so I've decided to donate the proceeds to the Red Cross for the Japanese earthquake victims. Not one of my stellar weekends
  21. I have the Ertl/Britains 3788 National Farm Toy Show tractor and its a very nice model. I don't think you'd be disappointed.
  22. Appreciate you posting that sale report Bill. What's your opinion of the prices realised?
  23. DBP County 1184 DBP County Super Six 1124 DBP County 1884 That was easy As for most wanted, don't know until I see it. Something by the hand- builders, David Purdue again or Martyn Reeve. If I win the lottery maybe something from Dr Andy Sewell.
  24. Awesome!!! The ultimate tractor for the NFTS artic. An absolute icon in my part of the world. I'll have to get 2 so I can change the decals and make an 875.
