  1. Great news That will be some model - the header alone will be over 15 inches wide!! Remember when the Britains flagship MF 760 was launched in 1978, with a 16ft header (6 inch), how times have changed........
  2. Probably a case of me confusing the issue with my original request - by "silver", I should have stated aluminium/bare metal. Thanks for all the help/responses, now sorted. Regards, JEP
  3. Thank you Sue - sorted, works well (black fill & 20% grey in Excel)
  4. I didn't realise they had white lettering, I have only seen the silver/grey onto black background. I know years ago some of our machines had the silver/lettering, and any pre 68 tractor restoration job always seem to have the silver/black plates. I was looking at putting these plates on my 60's models (Claas matadors/Fordson P.M/Ford 5000 S.M etc). The reflective black on white/yellow only came in from 1968, & up until 1973 - both types were available. The modern style was compulsory after 73 on new vehicles.
  5. Thanks Josh, I'm afraid the "design programmes" are a bit to techie for me I have tried printing a 20% grey colour, (MS word) onto black paper - but it is not very successful. Regards JEP
  6. Sorry if this has been covered before, but does anyone make the old type of number plate - grey/silver lettering/black background. Or is there an easy way to make them (as in photocopy/printer methods - which I use for my modern white/yellow plates) Any help/info, much appreciated.
  7. Indeed! the models are definitely more tangible than a hazy sat night in town!
  8. Hope you are right Jay, as you say probably not the best promoted, particularly in terms of target audience - so perhaps it was a bit strong to say the bottom has fallen out, but old Britains are certainly not commanding the prices they were 2 or 3 years ago - granted this coincides with the global downturn of 2008, and generally far tougher financial times, but maybe prices had become unrealistically over inflated - along with other bubbles (housing etc) - they are prone to bursting. At the end of the day - first rule of economics - Supply & demand something is only worth what a buyer is prepared to pay. Hopefully there will be lots of demand on sunday for this great hobby of ours....
  9. Yes, I agree - looking at the prices, it seems like the bottom has fallen out of the market, (plus quite a few lots not sold). I didn't start collecting models as an investment - it was always for pleasure, and still is - but a few years back it was quite nice to think if my finances went bottoms up I would at least be able to fall back on my collection..... not anymore \
  10. Have just recently acquired the wiking Xerion, and although i think it is an excellent model detail wise, whats going on with the colour? the green seems way off, as does the red, unless claas have changed the colour of these particular Xerions, (but I wasn't aware that they had,) it is to dark. Granted, you can put 4 detailed Class models together (UH jag/Tucano/Norev 108/schuco Senator) & they are all slightly different shades, but the wiking is noticeably a different colour.
  11. While at the agrisem stand during SIMA, I noticed the 12m model in the display cabinet, although unlike other agrisem models in the cabinet, it had no price tag, I enquired about its availability, and I think........ (although my french is not 100% ) the girl on the stand suggested it would be available next season, what is classed as next season I'm not to sure... watch this space.
  12. A 2wd V8 MF (1150/2000's etc) are a thing of beauty
  13. If its 1:32nd... & if its Schuco..... as rumoured Claas Lexion 770
  14. Thanks for the info chaps, I wonder if he would consider doing his Senator in 1:32nd??
  15. Are the MF 34 & 36 combines one off projects, (as seen at Zwolle) or will they be available to order (as per MF 1200/JCB's etc), and are they 1:32 scale? Any info much appreciated.
  16. Many thanks for the replies
  17. Many thanks for that Bill
  18. Probably a silly question - but I have limited model making experience!! \ When sanding down scratch built models - i.e - tidying up bits of filler, or rough edge cuts etc - is ordinary type sand paper OK, or is there special model/ultra fine type sanding material available?? Any help, much appreciated
  19. I'm not to technical with screw numbers etc - but I am after micro screws (crosshead) - which are approx 1.5mm diameter head, and about 1.5/2mm thread length, the type that U-H use on there delicate bits!! who sells/supplies them?? Any help/advice, much appreciated.
  20. Re: the Wiking 5000, I hope that the one pictured is a pre-production model, as the interior looks bog standard Siku (mainly white moulded seating/console area), if this is the final version, I wouldn't pay 100% premium over the Siku version, and for Wiking it would be a backward step for the level of interior detail, when compared with previous models, such as the Claas Axion/Deutz TTV etc
  21. Do walkerparts make any decals? & is there a minimum order? Also what details do they require - photographs/email attachment and measurements etc? or do you tell them the machine - make & model and they do the rest? And finally - what type of decal are they - i.e waterslide or sticker type? Questions, questions.....
  22. On the theme of old U-H combines - has the run of old Claas finished? (Europa/Matador), I was hoping they would have moved on to Senators/Early Dominators, sure they would be big sellers, anyone in the know???
  23. Didn't realise that, think we need to pressure Mr Reeves into updating his 1080 then
