Tractorman810
looks a handy bit of kit mark, is it self powered then??? as i cant see a engine on it as such
Lord Ferguson
Yes sean e kins... Little petrol engine mate.. 4 stroke lawnmower jobbie really. http://s154.photobucket.com/albums/s259/markyferguson/?action=view¤t=ef8057f4.jpg&mediafilter=noflash Not sure if that link will work.. Bloody iSad You'll need good eyesight if it does anyway
Tractorman810
so its a pretty efficient one then if it runs on that, then i guess all its powering is the screen shakes, so wont need to much power, so i asume its another little trailer to mount it on now then? or on the back of the low loader
Lord Ferguson
It is mate... Pretty simple design really.. As for a trailer... I'm thinking about adding a tow hitch to my dumper so I can tow the pair... Circus stylee
Tractorman810
makes sence, a old tipper chassis should be ok to mount that on, little 3 ton one or alikes
Lord Ferguson
Probably an Ifor Willy mate I suspect
Lord Ferguson
Just for the record... 1900 hours... new water pump this week..... first major component failure so far.. and I was told that water pump failure on the Sisu engines was fairly commonplace :'(

Lord Ferguson
Sorry mate... I do need to rationalise somewhat don't I... or... as one of my co-Directors put it last week... have my cheque writing hand cut off
Lord Ferguson
Brief update.... I've entered into an agreement with a large local farmer to clean up (grade) and sell a heap of peat from some old strawberry growing medium bags with my grader... Me and one of the famrers workers spent the day grading our first 100 or so tonnes of material which I THINK I have sold today (subject to a weed growth test) .. SUPERB fun spending all day on the tractor loading the heap into my grader, then making a nice high pile. More to do next week when I get a spare day to 'play' ... only a few images when we'd just got going really... finished in the dark so too late to take pictures then sadly First.. the heap... My new grader... The 'assisting' Merlo... and work in progress.... The Merlo is piling up the spoil which can be regraded again... the other heap is the good saleable stuff
Tractorman810
how many time will you grade that lot then mate??? would have thought one pass would have removed most of the weeds and stuff anyway, but there seems a fair old bit left in still going by the merlos pile
NewHolland2
Interesting stuff Marky, it seems you're going from strength to strength on this side of things.......Once the spoil has been regraded will it be fine for sale too? What's the market for the graded peat anyway mate - garden centres and the like??
Lord Ferguson
I'm not sure how long it will take to grade the lot Sean... not too long I hope... it's quite a 'job specific" thing to set up really... takes a good morning to hit the sweet spot.. then you can really motor... perhaps almost double the mornings output (if that makes sense) ... Mart... yes the spoil pile will be quick to regrade... I reckon we should getthe same yield out of that as we did the first pass... it pays to have the machine setup to grade fast with some losses as otherwise you'll always have idle time with the loaders.. there is always an element of regrading to do on every job once the first pass has been made

jdc
Interesting Marky. You'd much rather be driving Hattie than selling veg. Looks like a heap of nice stuff.
Lord Ferguson
Oh not half John... I could cheerfully give up produce and spend all day in the saddle mate.. alas.. the till does not ring loud enough on Hattie alone :'( The peat stuff is superb I must say... lovely drop of stuff now
1/32 farmer
Could do with a good bloke on a 360 mate really... you know anyone yes but i am too busy at the mo and you would need a lot bigger grader as well *
Lord Ferguson
Well the new kit fairy has been to visit Marky today again... I've decided to swap the low-loader for a much longer pallet trailer (30ft bed) ... I've not picked it up as yet as I need to pluck up the courage to take it on the road ;D AS Marston in MF Red... of course... If I get the chance I'm going to collect it tomorrow.. fingers crossed that is.. somsthing is bound to get in the way of my plans.. usually does
BC
Looks nice Mark...but the longer the trailer and the further to the rear the wheels are ...all the easier to reverse ;D A bit big for the "Little Massey" in the bottom right of the first picture I suppose
Lord Ferguson
Going backwards is not a problem Bill.. its the cutting corners I worry about mate
SPN
Going backwards is not a problem Bill.. its the cutting corners I worry about mate It's tail swing I'd be worried about with that trailer.
Tractorman810
yeah bit of tail swing, but i would say easier to judge than the low loader mate, you towed the lexion header a while back didnt you?? not much different to that
