when looking through my old brochures i came across one for the xylon, I have never seen one in the flesh, but it's always a tractor that  I have liked....so i thought I would build one for my collection as it's been a while since I have built a tractor for myself, and altho I do a lot of paint effects I do love building stuff ;D

So after being sold a siku one (Anyone who knows me will no how I love siku :of ) by a helpfull forum member, I thought I would make a slow start...well that went to pot as I reached into my display case for my 515c, that is now in bits as a donor tractor Ahhh :'(  ordered a new one from barry tonight.

Anyway a few hours later, and a few to many cigarets and cups of tea ::) this is what I have done so far, I wanted the front to be as close as possible to the real tractor, so I chopped the front off the siku and started a fresh, I also wanted it to pivot like the real one to.

doing a good job, i will be following this with interest as the Xylon and Fendt toolcarriers have always interested me. I never got to drive one but have seen a couple working and remember when they were at the Smithfield.

I have a Siku Xylon (blue) one of my favourites.

I see a very interesting build coming along here. Looks like a bit of a challenge for my liking but I suspect you have some ideas and tricks as to how to get the end result, you usually do!! Look forward to seeing how it transforms.  :)

awesome work mate, nice to see a bit unusual project.

Cheers mate, alway nice to have a compliment from the master 8) .It's funny how many people realy don't like this tractor in real life :D , don't think I will get asked to build one for anyone, better start building those green and yellow things...people just love em ::)

I have another 515 on the way now so I can start to getting on with the cab.

I hope to get the chassis finished over the next few days, I am just fitting the engine and a spool block attached to the steps

it is surprising how many people dont like the Xylon and the Deutz InTrac, alot of people dont like Mogs because they dont look like a tractor ::) ....... all i can say is they dont have an eye for brilliant engineering  ;)

i used to work for a chap who had 4 of them , unfortunately i left before i got a drive , but like most fendt stuff they were well liked by the drivers & covered a lot of miles. i did speak to one of the drivers who said that his was a 4 cyl & lost momentum on hills much quicker than his 6 pot 612 used to , & thought 140 hp+

from a 4 pot was pushing it to it's limits still a very comfortable hulage tractor though.

as for the tool carriers , i have driven one of those , on potato & wheat haulage & occasional carnival season , nice tractor but the driving position was a bit cramped

yer, I think we can be very english about tractors like this, we like tractors to look like tractors ??? .

same thing with lawn mowers, we have a stiga mower with the deck on the front and artic steering, fantastick thing, goes round everything and under all the bushes etc, BUT the dealer hardly sells any, every one buys tractors with the deck underneath, they can't get into the corners, and moan about turning circle, but they bought it as in there head it looked like a ride on mower should! ::)

If you look for xylons for sale there are loads in france, belgum etc, not found one in the UK.

Anyway back to the model... engine fitted, chassis frame fitted around it. chassis close to ready for paint
