the other green
Talking with a couple of mates yesterday and this topic came up. It brought back some good memories so I thought I'd make it a topic here. I also used Lee's Favourite Britains question format and made it a 2-for-1 question. Apologies if it has been asked before. My favourite would be the New Holland 1032 bale wagon. Just lots of fun. A bit difficult to set but once you had 'er going, those small square bales would be off the ground and onto the first table to get lifted up onto the load neat as you like. Keep the ground speed just right and watch for bales lying on their side or out of line then once loaded, a bit of road work back to the yard, some precise reversing to unload and off down the road to repeat the process. Best tractor I had for the job was an International 574 without a cab. I would still like a few hours running a large self-propelled forage harvester 'bout 900-1000HP would do nicely. masseyjack590
i like to use our welger baler its so much better than our old john deere one the crop flows through it so well its nice to use because you rarely have a problem with it you can push it hard aswell and still make good bales with it. Our 6480 is a good match for it and comfortable. One implement i would like to use is a forage wagon of some sort it seems to be a good job when its going well
david_scrivener
I'll have another look at this thread, in case you all get fed up with talking about farm implements, and move on to potentially more entertaining stuff about 'other' implements. You're nearly there already: i like to use our ******* its nice to use because you rarely have a problem with it you can push it hard as well and [its] comfortable. it seems to be a good job when its going well Reminds me of some of the, ahem, 'specialised machinery' I've seen on porn sites. archbarch
my favourite is the (spider) or Vicon Acrobat simple to use and did the job well. Just turning the swath over onto dry ground exposing the ground to dry makes sense and the tines help rejuvinate the sward. I would also like to use a forage wagon mainly because its something different and ive used pretty much everything else.
Deere-est
Anything that gives a sense of satisfaction when youlook back over your work at tea time. Even chain harrows or a pasture roller, the latter on a cabless tractor of course. I would also like to have a go with a self loading forage wagon or a self loading Veenhuis tanker or similar with injector.

Jdeere6910
My favourite would be a claas 880 twin rake, so much better than our single rotor 430, especially on our JD 6900 in summer, makes me sentimental and happy Most want to use... Trailed forager on a nice tractor

Light Land
I always had you down as ploughing man Phill. Mine would be a Bedformer, pulling up lovely deep beds of silty loam and seeing the gulls swooping down for a feed.

I do enjoy a good bit of ploughing Ol and getting a nice lovely stale seedbed but always been big min-till person as we get better yields from it then do the plough

britainswomble
I used to love topping, tidying up a scruffy looking field after the cows had scoffed all the good grass. The most rewarding jobs are the ones that leave you with a sense of achievement. Fertiliser spreading was pretty boring. The field looked the same after you'd put all that time into it. A few weeks later you could see whether you had any "Misses" from the other side of the valley! I've never actually used a self propelled forager. I've driven them to and from demo's, but would love to actually use one. I rather like the idea of one of the classics. Either a Claas Jaguar SF80 or the early New Holland machine. The Claas had a V10 Deutz engine and the NH (1970's) had a V8 caterpillar engine. (3208?). Lovely noise!!
britainswomble
My favourite job was pasture topping. Tidying up scruffy looking fields after the cows had eaten all the good bits. Very rewarding, unlike fertiliser spreading. There wasn't anything to show for all your hard work. I'd like to have a go on a self propelled forager. I've driven them to and from demo's but never actually used one. I quite fancy the classics. Either the Claas Jaguar SF 80 with the V10 Deutz or the New Holland 1880 with the (3208?) Caterpillar V8. Great sounding engines, but you would be better off with ear plugs when they are working!
