ok then ill start us off, there are alot of fields of OSR  a couple of weeks off being ready, ive seen a few combines out on the road looking very clean and obviously ready to go. ive also seen a few crops of barley well ahead of where they should be.

the sprayers from the big arable farms are out in force now spraying crops off and the irrigators are being taken back to yards

anybody else this far ahead. ill give it 2-3 weeks until the combines are going here if the weather holds up now

Well we were looking at end of June first week July start but the last week of dull weather and showers has slowed things up a little.  But still gonna be early, high chance I wont spray a large portion of the OSR off as otherwise be stupid early might as well save the money and wait a little longer  :)

Well at the moment were looking at if lucky an average of 3ton to acre whereas last 5 year average across our ground is 4.2ton an acre so were most certainly way down this year  :'(

Had a look at crops last few days and last week 10 days of wet weather has helped in that were looking at 10th of july realistic start so not to early but that can quickly change as we all know this year

was looking to be quite early this year but we have had some this last weekend and its stopped them maturing so quick but the barley is turning quickly probably the early to mid july before the combines start to roll. yields will be down but on heavy land the wheats not doing too badly

Crops seem to be varied this way , the barley on the farm we are on is a good 3-4 weeks ahead of normal if it stays like this weather wise he's talking about early / mid July more than likely early though , his rapes not to far off either , but other crops a bit further afeild out Norwich way seem very behind and patchy ,

We reckon in a average/good year to be combining barley the day after Driffield show, which is always around 20th july, thats vale of york, wolds start a week later on average, could easily be other way this year though  :of

expected yields for wheat are looking ok at the moment at around 3-3.5 ton. the straw will be a problem but rape straw is looking like it will play a big part this year/next year.

the OSR looks like it hasnt been effected but these past few weeks we have had just about enough rain to protect us.

hoping now to start in about 3 weeks as the rain has delayed spraying. ive got 2 combines to clean and prep for john suckleys as im doing a summer with them from the 1st week of july till the end of october.

im going to be grain carting and then going on to cultivations ploughing and some mintill. theyve also said they will show me how to opperate the combine setting up the sieves ect... and some driving.

3 weeks for barley here or sooner. Hopefully looking at the crop we will be getting 5ton an acre this year. Combine coming out the shed  tomorrow as newholland dealer is giving her a check over.

5 ton an acre off Barley?? Really?  :of
