massey ferguson 3080

Recommended Posts

having recieved my massey 3080 yesterday from barry (udimore),thanks barry, and having a quick lookover it,and watching topics on here,i will be spraying the chassis charcoal grey, ive allready shortened the height of the beacon, rear wheels if i can get a pair of claas /renault 836 wheels, but the front wheels and tyres will be staying, the front wheels look correct to me,and allthough i was one of many who complained about the front skinny tyres, they are infact correct, lord ferguson kindly scanned me a mf 3000 brochure and i checked the front tyre size,i then converted these measurements to 1/32 scale and they are accurate, maybe front mudguards, will have to see if the mudguards will look a bit silly with the skinny front tyres, also get a driver in the cab, wheni was in wales on holiday a couple of years ago i went to a massey dealer there and they had 2 3095,s in there yard and they were on skinny front tyres, and lastly i have a massey colour card, and it says that the wheels should be NEW SILVER MIST, but having a chat with johny about his superb 3080 convo his wheels look a very different colour to NEW SILVER MIST,so i have pm'ed johny about that, anyway some pictures hopefully at the weekend, ive got to go and pick up some charcoal grey spray paint from my massey dealer, the pictures are of the 2 3095,s on the mf dealers yard in wales, just to show the skinny front tyres

he was the guy who gave me the colour card sean, plus he is very knowlegable, the colour is listed as NEW SILVER MIST,but johnys colour on his 3080 convo looks very different to that, johny messaged me and said that he used wheel white of MF for the 3000´s serie´s.

Not silver mist he used the paint of Sparex 3000 serie´s.

I've used new silver mist on my 1:1 3065 and found it to be a match on cab and wheels.

I agree with your comments on wheel sizes. My 3085 with a different (74") track setting to the model.

start of putting the 3080 back together, not a good start,i lost the right hand armrest putting the seat back in,so a bit of plastruct, bit of trimming and some black paint, added driver, all the little bits back on the chassis, cab and bonnet back on and there you go,just waiting for the new silver mist paint to come in for the wheels via my mf local dealer, wont be in until tuesday, but i have trimmed down some siku mf 5455 rear wheels and using the existing 3080 tyres,i will see what this will look like,as i said before at the start of the topic, the front wheels and tyres are staying as they came with the model, also got to add a roof aerial, will post some pictures up later of the siku 5455 rear wheels and tomorrow will post some better pictures of the 3080,a bit to dark for decent pictures really

Looking good Paul.

The colour on the photo's of my 3080 are just as they are in real life.

I am shure i didnt use New Silvermist.

But i think you need to spray them the way you want to.

I had a small discussion with a lad from the Dutch MF importer about paints.

He said they went to a painter, for the use of paint and with one can paint the painter sprayed 6 difirent colours!

So when are you doíng it right?

Looking good Paul!

Just a quick question, do you ever get any bother with paints reacting or do you clean them completely off?

Making a Massey Ferguson 4255 sloped nose based on a Universal Hobbies chassis and need to paint the chassis but worried that the new paint will react with the original paint,
