rich.new holland
about how many horses hav those got ford the best u can get
Powerstarâ„¢
I prefer the Ford Gears to the 4245 pile of crap I know that's hard to believe but ask any MF 4245 driver if they like the gears i'd be suprised if someone said yes, because drawing silage up a hill and having to change complete range and gear all on one stick is a nightmare \ The Ford 6640 is 4 cylinder 76HP And the Ford 7740 is 4 cylinders at 86HP
rich.new holland
thanks mate we got a ford 7840 down my nans the gears are monged up on that it sticks 1-2 then u hav to come to a complete stop and then put it in to 3-4 not good when carting silage
Powerstarâ„¢
Same on all 40 series Fords mate, major design fault.
rich.new holland
my friends one he has the older version the one with the hubs sticking out in the wheels , he hasnt got the prob so it must be the second versions that have the prop ill hav to get pics of the both of them
Powerstarâ„¢
Must be a rarity in itself, every driver/owner of a 40 series both hubs - no hubs have gear trouble. You just got to look after the box and no quick gear changes or skip a few gears and everything should be fine.
rich.new holland
ill hav to tell him not to jump gears then just in case
Powerstarâ„¢
Not a major problem if things go wrong, just unclip the plastic casing and theres a springy metal bit in thee which gets ujammed unjam it with a scredriver and away you go. If you dont know about that you would think it's fairly major.

Deere-est
Aye aye aye !!! I'll have none of this dissing of 40 series Fords thank you. Sparrowlegs is making me a 7840 SL as we speak as this along with the 390T was my main motor in my first job. M reg, owned from new and pulled aswell as an 8240 SLE because it didn't have all the electronics. No trouble with it in the 6yrs I was there. The gearbox niggle we had was 2nd to 3rd, if you got lazy and went diagonal you'd jam in 2nd with the lever in neutral. Scrabble underneath, remove rubber boot, whack linkage with something heavy and away you go again!!!
rich.new holland
still i think the tl90 is better
Guest Fendt pwr
Sounds like an old MF 35 I used to drive.2nd to 3rd to fast and the stick would get locked up so you had to do a deere-est repair job to it and then off you would go again. :D :D
