North West Recovery

Recommended Posts

As suggested by more than one member I have started this topic to post images from my "new" job. I have left the Police after 30n years and started work for a recovery garage who have a large fleet of trucks and support vans with depots at Widnes (Head Office), Preston and Deeside on the Welsh border.

We take calls from all over the UK and we have partner agencies all over the UK with whom we have reciprocal agreements. Basically you ring us and we can recover you anywhere in the UK 24/7.

Without too much advertising I had better get on with the pictures, although most of them are lorries on their side as these are the most challenging jobs.

This one was on the M6.

No I don't go out on the recoveries, these are taken by those who do for our facebook page. I do office and yard duties as we have other strings to our bow as we store "written off" vehicles for Insurance companies and Blue Cycle (who are a recycling company.......funnily enough)

Storage is an earner Mike...it makes money while you sleep as a few folk in business have told me ;D ;D

Green Meadow were (possibly still are?) a fair concern along the M4 from Swindon, Mike. I needed their help one say when I put my then Scania 8x4 Bulker in a soft verge. A tree stopped it going over, she was loaded too! The chap that came out had a brand new 5 axle Iveco costing 250k, this was 2002. He told me the worst kind of recovery is a loaded, unmarked lorry! I ser his point. An old Scammel Constructor also attended to stop the back end slipping in as the Iveco winched me out forwards.

Aaaaaaanyhow! Walls and NYR are very well known for their specialist vehicles.

What a fleet you chaps run though, eh Mike?! Very nice, modern well presented..... This sort of work always attracts onlookers and working so close with the emergency services, you can't afford to run around with old kit. I love it. More of the same please although it goes without saying as I know how professional you are we will be saved the more macabre images for the respect of those involved or related.

For anyone who was caught on the M6 today around the Wigan area I am sorry but we had a rather delicate recovery to do.

A car towing a horsebox overturned but thankfully the horses on board were not badly hurt, although they were very stressed.

Unfortunately, some idiot drivers were going past and blasting their horns as we were getting the animals out which absolutely did nothing to calm them down. >:( >:(>:(

I can tell you an interesting story about American school bus's,in the States when a school bus stops to let the kids off that Stop sign on the side swings out,now it says Stop on the front and the back so no vehicle is allowed to pass,in either direction untill the driver closes the door and that sign swings back in,

Season's Greeting's

Joe.

Given the recent weather conditions I do begin to wonder that if people had gunpowder for brains they wouldn't have enough to blow their hat off.

We all know the fields are wet so why would you think you could drive a Ford Transit connect across one?

Enter the Saviour.....John Deere 3140 style

This was an expensive mistake for someone, it hit a bridge!!

The hydraulic platform was torn out of the floor

And it ripped a hole in the roof

It also snapped the rear axle but unfortunately I didn't get a picture of that :- :-

Jeeeeesus!!!!!!!! On all three counts!!!!!!

Nice Yank metal popping in for a visit, proper wrecker that. Not a cheap bit of kit by any means, these big American wrecker trucks. As for the home fleet, very impressive. The fleet is its own advertisement and when everything is all matched and carries a theme like those three (and the baby) do it just shows the company invest in top dollar gear to do top dollar work. Appreciate the updates, Mike.
