Niels
Some of you might remember the Amac ZM 2 potato harvester that I posted on here back in 2009. Here it is: http://www.farmtoysforum.com/forum/topic/11067-amac-zm-2-potato-harvester/?hl=amac. Well, my friend has been busy again and finally his next model, the Grimme SF 3000, is finished. Another potato harvester but this time on Claas tracks and harvesting four rows (4x75 cm) rather than two. The model is build completely out of scratch apart from the beacons and front tyres. Everything else is aluminium, brass or plastic. The whole model is soldered and since it is made of metal it is both sturdy and very heavy. Haulm topper on the front. Nice look on the engine compartment. The Claas cab was build by himself as well. The elevator reaches down easily into the trailer for minimal tuber damage! Britains tyres on home made rims. Niels
All the hydraulics are there. More detailed shot of the engine compartment. Radiators etc.. came off the engine block of a Siku Xerion, The rest is scrap. The model is packed with details. Lights, hydraulic pipes, camera all there. The right elevator belt (for spreading the crop onto the discharge elevator) is folded up so the elevator can fold in. It's all working! Folded in 3 halves, just like the real thing. Ready for transport with the cab slid forwards and the stairs raised.
Niels
Other side in road transport mode. All the side panels open but there are no sprockets and chains behind them. The engine bay does slide out sideways (so you can clean the radiators etc..) but due to paint sticking on cylinders this is not working a hundred percent on the model. Some photo's of the build. You can see the spiral cleaning rollers (Dahlmann rollers) at the back. Bit further with the lifting gear and webs in place. Assembly of fiddly parts. The Claas tracks being build. Niels
Why build only one? He did 11 in total! (All long since sold, sorry chaps!). The haulm toppers. And the real deal at work! Sorry for the photo's by the way but sadly I haven't got a nice lay out like Hillview Farm or something. It is 55 cm long so won't fit in my studio! Niels
Peter, he started late 2009 and finished them just after Christmas 2012. One model was used as a 'prototype' to see if all the parts would fit and the other ten would then be build as followed. Sean, yes it was, your spot on. Niels
Jamie; He has build an Amac ZM 2 potato harvester (see link on previous page). Other than that he hasn't done any potato related equipment yet but he is planning to do a Baselier rotovator and Grimme planter. This will be his next build: Now all we need is someone to do a MF 3690 model . And thank you all for your kind comments! Will definitely forward them to him.
