tractorboyjules1977
Eventually catching up on the maize drilling now with the help of Alex's chaps and a total of 3 power harrows and 2 drills , just about 10 days to go weather permitting , With heavy rain overnight all maize operations now halted so attention now turned to getting the mowers ready for 300 acres to cut for Oakley's , the 1st venture into silage this year with a total of 2000 acres booked in already not including baleing, looks like all hands on pump for the next week

tractorboyjules1977
With all 1st cut silage now all finished attention turning to balding and wrapping , managed to bale & wrap up 300 acres of silage this week , we've got a little twist for the customers this year with some delighting wrap , all in a good cause for the McMillan trust trying to raise some extra funds by wrapping up a few pink bales at each customer's farm promoting the cause ,showing British agriculture support !! Raising a few eyebrows!! Next week cracking on with another 250 acres of round bale haylage & 175 acres of silage , be nice when the grass is wrapped up once and for all on 1st cut !!!!!

With a cracking weeks weather behind us the decision was made this afternoon to start cutting the 1st 15 acres of winter barley , with the new combine only arriving the beginning of last week from Vaughan agri of Dorchester , it was a quick familiarise myself with the new machine and off we go , by 4 o clock saw the 1st load on its way back to the grain pit , now in full swing and 3 trailers on the road looks like going to be a late night ! With a few showers forecast tonight and tomorrow the baler will be in asap to get everything baled by the dark hours leaving nothing to get wet , with 1 baler down and the new baler not yet arrived the pressure is on the baler man !!!! tractorboyjules1977
End of a good week as the barley now all finished and the combine back in the yard for a diesel up ,then ready to go next week into the rape for a neighbouring farmer before a short break until the wheat is ready to come off , still looking at another 10 days or so and with a dodgey weather forecast for next week could be waiting a little bit longer ! In the yard still not up to full tractor ration but yesterday just been down to redlynch to pick up our 15 plate low houred 828 ,very pleased with this deal indeed ,probably another addition or 2 when harvest is flat out ! Just preparing for verdge cutting and tidying gateways next week , so hedgetrimmer now on and ready to go
