It is getting that way already, its already outgrown the coffee table and is beginning to take over the garage now!  We went to Malvern the other week and came back full of ideas and shopping bags!

Just organising all the photos we have taken so we can show you them as we have gone along.  Will get some more on tomorrow for you..

post-4078-0-17259500-1394737683_thumb.jp - The yard in this picture was gravel paper bought from a model railway shop but it has been taken up and replaced with a patterned sticky back plastic that looks like concrete as the gravel paper kept moulting!

This is the first board of four hopefully, I am building everything from scratch with materials from B&Q and a well known coffee shop ( ;) ) as well as a lot from HollyLovesToys.  The plan is to have a large dairy herd with a tight building layout to avoid traipsing all over for my farm workers  ;D  ;D

Comments and suggestions are more than welcome

The bales in the pictures were bought from HLT, bit expensive but worth every penny, very realistic.

Thats all for this evening, hope you like what you see so far.

Night all! O0 O0 O0

Here are a few more pictures for you. I have been putting a vacuum line in the parlour today and making the pump house (those pictures will follow later though, we are only up to February with the pictures so far)

hope you enjoy!

Hi

We are up to date with the photo's now, so here are a few taken tonight to show where the build is up to.

So far, we have a calf shed, milking parlour, cubicles, calving shed, garage/tractor shed and a muck midden!

The cubicles and parlour still need the lighting (LED strips) fitted and a roof (HLT, here we come!), I have street style lights to fit in the yard and some hedging needs creating for the side of the fencing.

The two other boards planned so far are the Silo pit with slurry store with another cow shed maybe.  Then the last board will have another building for straw and a few implements with a green pasture at the side.

There is a trip to B&Q in the offing over the weekend so the model should be free-standing and a semi-permanent fixture in the garage after that.

Once Wiking have sorted out their battery issues, I hope santa or the tooth fairy will buy me the RC Fendt Front Loader, but at £200 it might mean all my teeth coming out! :-X

If anyone has any comments or suggestions, please feel free, any ideas will be gratefully received.  Especially round the slurry store, should I stick to wood or use the plastic I beams?

Really is a great new farm you've brought to the forum and nice to see a livestock farm :D love the abreast parlour as you don't see many on a model farm. What are you using for LED strips and where are you planing on getting them from? Are they these Cree type strips or the old fashioned LED bulb?

Thanks, thought we'd stick to what we know.  Its going be a pricey herd though as we can't breed our own ha ha ;D .  The abreast parlour was a very nice Ebay find.

We bought a LED strip off EBay to see what they were like so once the table is fitted, we will wire it up and see whether thats the route to go down.  Not sure they will look realistic enough above each cubicle bay so might decide to go down the bulb route in the end.

The street lights were bought from a local model shop and are even pre-wired so the yard should light up nicely.
