Ros Fendt 718 vario tractor + challenger rogator 344 trailed sprayer

Recommended Posts

Ros fendt 718 tractor + challenger rogator 344 trailed sprayer

good points:

tractor: excellent detail, tractor is all in proportion, realistic linkages

sprayer : again excellent detail and good functionality of boom steering etc

bad points:

tractor: wheel treads, mirrors little flimsy (one was bent due to the elastic band holding it) no uk style trailer hitch, no computer screen in cab

sprayer : had to fix the steering pivot as it was all lose, one of the transport locks for the booms is broken off so needs gluing (once again due to a elastic band) very fragile

packaging: i like the packaging as it allows the model to be removed easily from the box, but on other hand restricts the view in the box of the model,

hows the fendt compare to the universal version: both have Good and bad points, but think the uh one has the lead due to being more robust model and just seems that bit better

price: I got it for less then £100 through my dealer, if I had to pay £150 I would be a bid cheesed off considering the broken parts

Overall it is a good model so I give it 8.5/10,

let's hope they do the sprayer in fendt colours soon?

Here are some pictures

Thanks for the review Ben.  So yet again a model that looked promising turns out to be a bit of a let down, fragile bits that easy t bend and brake and why would you have wheel weights on a tractor that's spraying?

If it was a bit more robust it would easily beat the uh version I think.

you'd be surprised, I've seen trailed Sprayer's with 800-900 series on before, there's a lot of dead Weight in a trailed sprayer so wheel weights are helpful for getting increased traction I suppose

Well to me that 718 looks more refined than the UH, certainly the cab pillars look right, unlike the chunky pillared UH version.   As you say the tyres are poor and as Mark says the wheel weights are unnecessary on a 180hp tractor.   I suppose it could be easily rebadged 724 by Henri W.    The natural green is way nicer than the dull old colour green.

The 718 and 720 are slightly smaller than the 722 and 724.

I'd prefer if the 724 had wheel weights.

Ben, does the 718 come with swappable rear linkage like the more recent ROS Fiats?

The whole 700 range 714-724 are the same dimensions mate,

no just has the one linkage, there is a weight block included though

Thanks for reviewing Ben,looks like both fendts have there pros and cons, maybe you could add the vario screen to the Ros model.

Do either have opening doors at all?

I know the ros definitely has a opening rear window, uh Dosent have any opening windows/doors

I think the UH model appears bigger because its got larger replica tyres on it, probably based on 710/75 R38s,  The 718s are clearly not as tall and are probably 650/ 65 R42s.

There seems to be decreasing tyre detail on some of these top models of late,  The Wiking Valtra I got for a bargain £35 has very bland tyres compared to the first edition Wiking Fendt 828 and JD6930s and indeed the ROS New Holland T7s!!     I hope this cost cutting isn't becoming a trend.

It does have a opening left door and a opening rear window.

Very true Ben you shouldn't have to, if they would have detailed the inside of the cab more rather than fitting wheel weights I  think people would be more happy with the model oh and better tyres

It is a good model, It's just let down by stupid little things that shouldn't be a issue

First time I've seen it in Challenger box Ben,  Even more collectable now Challenger going to be under the Fendt banner. Wonder if there will be a third version with the sprayer done as a Fendt?

It will indeed, fendt sprayer looks quite smart, one in this weeks farmers weekly

Good grief!!..................I preferred it when Fendt were just a specialist tractor maker with a one percent market share..............................I will be sticking with my trusty Amazon sprayer for the long term I think, although I might be using a classic Fendt to pull her:P
