Nice motor the old Vr6s they started the craze really. They had the 2.8 litre engines and probably around 190 bhp I think. The r32 features the bigger 3.2 litre engine... naturally aspirated too. Producing a on demand 247 bhp from factory after the software update they Did on them to rectify the flat spot between 3k-4K. Mk5s have 250 bhp... but a more refined car all in all. And almost feel sensible on the limit, Our mk4 is probably around 280 bhp at the moment and with a new set of shrick cams should be 295/300 bhp. In the future we are hoping to couple it up to a rotrex supercharger and achieve 400+. I’ve been putting away for a while now to do so. As there original plans where to make the r32 with some sort of forced induction from stock. They went to the trouble of making the internals good for 550 bhp but the plans fell through and they halfed that figure nearly. But... they still left the internals in the standard car so you can really make an animal with them. And it’s all held together with 4wd Seriously fun car and capable of easy 155 mph. And I safely say they will ;) I’d be more than happy to take you for a spin if you got the chance mate.

I also lost interest in rallying when Colin died... just never seemed the same after he was gone

The R32 & VR6s were quick little hothatchs .. But in my own opinion ..alittle over rated .Their HP figs were nothing to write home about for such a big engine. I see a VR6 getting ripped apart by a DC2 Integra Type R .. Remember the Type R is 1000cc less capacity & naturally asperated from the same era but pushed out near 200 BHP. In my own opinion the ultimate 90s era inalhothatchs were the Escort Cossie & the Sunny/Pulsar GTi-R . At the end of the day you can mod any car to bursting point or 500 bhp +.  But its better to have a factory spec original with good reliability & good performance.

I think the vr6s where overrated. And if I’m honest on the slow side. On the other hand R32s are a little more special than them - but not overrated. I think they slipped under the radar if I’m honest as not many people have them, I find more people opt for GTIs or go even quicker and buy a Impreza or evo. My friend has a type r and he cannot live with me after a ton and then a ton 30 I’m on my own in the r32. I can nudge 60 in about 5 seconds. Similar to his tuned type R. A vr6 would get ripped up by them but not a r32. Especially if there both Standard. Although the hondas are a fantastic car and I will never take that from them. What a car they are.. powerful and well In the bends. But R32s There nothing scary fast and as a owner I will admit there on the low side power wise and really aren’t anything out of the ordinary in the class of vehicles there in you will find similar power in most hot hatches. With 2 litre engines But with turbos. I think the concept of the v6 and 4 wheel drive is what attracts the owners. In my opinion they should of made them at least 300 bhp from factory to compensate for the weight as they are jolly well heavy cars.

I agree Sam. These days its small engines with turbos like Ford Ecoboosts & the VW TSIs   & they are trying to ditch the diesel. You would just wonder will these be trouble free cars in a few years time when thy have clocked up good high mileage !! They don't make cars like they used to anymore it seems. Too much sensitive tech rammed into them only leading to headaches down the line.To me the ultimate practical  performance cars came from the late 80's & threw to the end of the 90's .I was always a big fan of the JDM stuff  and had quite a few rare  machines in my younger days .  I never got a spin off an R32 ,,but I'm sure the torque band is crazy with an engine of that size in a Golf. Cars like that will become sought after classics in another few years . A good original  80's era Gti or G60 will make nice money these days which will be the same with your R32 in time to come . Look after it . ;) Better stay on topic now. Sorry SPN. :D

Yes sorry spn last off topic comment :) you seem to share the same view as myself mate. I recently had ago in a 1 litre eco boost with 150 bhp !!! What the heck that’s crazy from a wee engine :D. The 32 ain’t bad she’s got allot of torque as you say. For me it’s more exciting in the corners, if you ever get the chance take one for a spin make sure you wind the windows down and get the old toe down ;) they love to be hammered. I’ll look after the old girl 11 years of proud ownership I may take her to the grave ha ha!. Anyway good talking cars with everyone nice to swap and share experiences and opinions on different subjects. Back to tractors now. Again sorry SPN for going off topic :)

Fabulous model. Excellent detail, including little locks to hold the butterflys in the raised position, just like the real thing.

The only downside is that it only seems to fit Wiking linkages. I bought the 828 specifically for the mower as they wouldn't fit on the T7070. Although I must try them on the Marge T7..315 to see if they will work on that.
