  1. Now this is a Mill made in 1/12 scale made and displayed by Bob Reeves of Leconfield. Its a nice model with quite a bit of detail. This is a farm model, but apologies because I can't remember the lads name but he was from Pocklington I think.
  2. Ok so here's a selection of the photos I took yesterday at the show 1st up are the Lads n Lasses from the Ribble Valley, and the Stewart Sisters from Annan, Scotland. The next part of the Ribble Valley Collection has a bit of a story with it. The Ribble Valley club does a lot of work for the Air Ambulance charity, and the lead models shown below were donated to Lynn Whitehead to display. The models were last played with in 1953, then they were wrapped up and not touched until this summer when Lynn opened the packages and discovered this lot - many of them still in their original boxes. Next up we have Harold Powlton's collection of County's, and a couple of his conversions.
  3. Well we got back from Hull ok tonight. It was a great show. Very friendly people, and good venue for a 1st show. Congratulations to Phil - Starbrush - on organising the event, everything went well and the butty van was well stocked with brews and food! It was a very well attended show, with a steady flow of people throughout the day. I hope Phil does another show next year as he deserves to do well again. Pictures to follow tomorrow.
  4. Just a quick reminder as we are going out the door to set off now - Its Startrac show tomorrow at Gilberdyke Village Hall, Hull. Lots of displays etc. Got to go NOW - he's got the engine running !
  5. Thanks for all the comments folks - very much appreciated. It was a good show and we enjoyed displaying my bit of a hobby for the 1st time. It was nice to see everybody and have a chat. Bill - thanks for the Aberdeen Buttery - they are certainly an acquired taste!!
  6. We are coming up as well, with my model...see you all there!
  7. Just spoke to Harold, and he gave me this list off the top of his head, so it might not be complete. If anybody knows of any more then please add them on... Brian Holroyd - possibly paintings etc Bruce Rollson - Plant Alan Gunston - bit of all sorts Julian & Mal - AT & C Die-cast Models Brian Norman David Holden - bit of all sorts A J Davies - Plant North East Agri Models Colin Wilkinson - obsolete Britains Brian Holmes Oranda Design - weathering etc
  8. Pig of a journey home - just short of 8 hours! But the show made it worth it! Nice to meet friends old and new. Excellent layouts, and trade stands. Looks like Toytrac again next year for me.
  9. It'll be good to see some of you Southern lads up here, but remember what you said about going North Marky - should we get plenty of tissues in for the nose bleeds!?
  10. Sorry but no, not this year. It will be going North to Rheged 1st, then East to Hull in December.
  11. The Lakeland Model Farm & Construction Show is on Sunday 22nd November 2009, and it's a great day out! It is held at the Rheged Centre, Penrith, Cumbria, and organised by Harold Powlton http://www.rheged.com/ Just 2 minutes from junction 40 M6 The show will have at least 17 model dispays, covering farm, contruction and quarrying plus various themed collections from John Deere to road construction equipment in the 50's and 60's. There will also be 16 trade stands. I will update this topic later when I have a definite list of traders from Harold. The centre itself is a brilliant place to go on a cold wet Sunday in November because it is entirely inside - underground actually - it is built into the hillside. Entry to the centre is free, as is the ample parking, and entry to the model show is just £4 (free for the under 12's) with all proceeds going to Kidney Research UK. This show really is one for all the family as there are shops and a cafe in the centre, so a bit of Christmas shopping could be done as well - which might just keep those not so interested in models happy for a while, whilst us like-minded people are engrossed in the displays etc. Harold has asked us to post this topic on his behalf, as it really is in a good cause.
  12. We will be there again on Sunday Bill, and it will be nice to have a chat. Chris and Paul Whitehead (Lancashire Lads) will be there with their display, but I won't be taking mine this year.
  13. Hi Sean..thanks for the comments..the next stage is to get it onto a bigger board (4' x 2') with a dry stone wall perimeter and gated entrance - then I can get some tractors on it. So far I have got about 18" of the way with the walling.
  14. Everybody has a weakness Tris... and hot solder is mine!! Thanks for all the comments folks..it was good to finally get it out of the house and on display, but I was a bit dubious how it would fair on the journey down - didn't do too bad though 'cos it just lost one door hanging and a corbel. Toytrac '09 is a bit debatable at the moment, we will just have to see what happens later in the year with the work situation. I am now sat back at the table with the tweezers and snips again - dry stone walling! It was really good to meet everybody again - and I must say a very big THANK YOU to Roger & Val for making space for my building on their stand. Dad's Tractors really helped set it off. ps...I think you all know now who is typing this now - his hands are busy with the tweezers
  15. Brave enough but its just finding somewhere to put it !
  16. Yes it is a copy of the 1961 Factories Act, amazing what you can reduce things down to.
  17. Hi Tris..undecided about figures - Hazel thinks that people would spoil it - Marie Celeste springs to mind!!
  18. A few more hours into it, and I think thats enough on the interiors for now - just putting the spars on the larger workshop ready for the roofing.
  19. Either option 2 or 4 for me and Hazel, a drive doesn't matter 'cos I will be on coke anyway, but I do like a good bit of grub!
  20. Went down to Malvern for the weekend, and as usual we weren't dissappointed. Perfect weather this year. It's good to see that the number of model displays is going up, more and more each year. It was good to meet County999, and great to see Graham and Sharon again.
  21. The lights and shades on the buildings are made from flat plastruc cut into a circle, and then plastruc tubing slipped over the LED with the 2 wires coming out of the end. The domed top of the shade is made from a thicker piece of flat plastruc, drilled for the 2 wires and then stuck onto the end of the tube, it then needs filing to get the domed effect. The 2 wires are then bent and used as the fixings, the whole lot is then painted...
  22. Ok ok don't twist it any further up my back Mark...I will bring it to Spalding in whatever state its' in at the time - hopefully finished. Don't want any rough stuff off you Southeners!!
  23. Cheers Graham...you know how it is though - been around a bit and seen a lot ! Seriously it's just from observation and imagination.
  24. Yes I would like to make one to sell...someday!
  25. Possibly, hopefully, maybe...if there's a corner left on a table somewhere..
