  1. The TW has been very tastefully enhanced CMB, very nice buy, does she run? I see you have a Smallfords potato planter lady, she makes a good alternative tractor driver and has been doing sterling service in one of my Renaults for about the last 15 or more years.

Busy day I haven't had time to try it! The previous owner/converter has done a pretty commendable job with the paintbrush, which makes all the difference. The 7840 I bought at Toytrac (for considerably more I might add!) looks basic when placed alongside the TW35. I'd prefer no paint added at all to having a rushed, untidy finish.

Yeah not sure why I went for Mrs Smallford, but now you mention it she would look good behind the wheel!

  2. Somewhere to record machines I'm working with or snap on my travels.

First up, this lovely JD 6630 which arrived to pull up thatch from our paddocks with a folding Browns harrow, 22 March.

  3. A New addition has officially joined the fleet today, a LWB Land Rover purchased  off E bay, Complete apart from the rear lights ( which I have remade from clear sprigs from and Airfix kit) Tow eye clip all glass (both doors windscreen and canopy side windows present) just stripped to component form shot blasted body and chassis and gave it a full re paint and some new decals for the doors, not entirely happy with the weathered galvi effect I tried on the front bumper, very pleased with it and could have left as was as the paint was not so bad but fort £12.50.....2 days later one with slightly better original paint went for £46.00 on E bay. Will post up more pictures as I work out how to resize :of

    You lucky devil!

  4. Me and the other half went to the dogs trust today to finish off the adoption for our new dog her name is Holly and she is very nervous around humans at the moment this is her settling in at home

    Ahh!

Today i did my first 'useful' tractor work, chain harrowing with IH 784 and Parmiter 4m harrow (though not exciting by theb standards around here).

Also constructing rudimentary head locking device for difficult ewes ::)

  5. I love it, Sue. It's very satisfying. We can lay about 500yrds a day without too much of a sweat. That's two of us laying/cutting and one barrowing in turf/turning planks. The jobs at the moment are on council estates in blocks where garages once stood so most are irregular size plots, with tree's, sheds, drains etc so there can be quite a lot of cutting. Nevertheless it is nice to leave a site at the end of the day having turned it green with grass. :) :)

ahh this brings back memories from the summer of 04  i was laying turf for a new development in South Cerney in Cirencester, it was so hot that summer that as soon as the turf was laid we needed a manitou to scoop water from a nearby lake and pour it on top every 30 minutes or so

  6. Stunning, I've just read through pages 1-50  and you are truly an inspiration sir!

    A few questions:

    • What did you use for the unharvested maize plants on page 40 and before?

    • Do you use real Iceland moss or the similar-looking synthetic stuff sold in model shops?, I can't find any growing near me!

    • What material is the coloured ?air brake? cables on your blue Marston trailer?

    • How did you obtain the little warning stickers you have on some machinery like the Smallfords planter?

Many thanks, and keep up the good work!

  7. yeah coir matting, got both mine from ebay, 13mm for cut stuff, then 23? or 30 can't remember for the uncut stuff, its not cheap for the thicker stuff, but it does work well, and bonus for you, cut sissal rope for the straw out the back

Near perfect Sean 8) , but am I alone in thinking the sissal straw stalks are a shade too pale?
