  1. You are on the right track mate, get some mat black or satin black that gloss stands out, pokes you in the eye a bit, the red oxide looks good, try to get into the small areas as they are were the oil and muck hide at the min it looks odd as it's showroom under the seat and behind the wheels then 30years old on top of the mudgars etc Do you know how to dry brush?
  2. Looks great, but in this photo it looks like it just took your finger off.......
  3. Thanks. I,m going to put a chain round the front weights tho.....cos it's a ford
  4. New holland about done,I'm going to leave it at this as I wanted this to be as close to out of box as I can live with . It's a nice model, but why oh why do they do such a bad job of putting it together, and that hitch and the inside of the wheels NASTY . Rant over few photos
  5. I like the stain on the back were the pipe comes out, good start. But try to build the coats up little by little and do the detail areas first then the main area e.g the inside of the arms. by the look of the spray pattern the paint could have been a little thinner then you could turn the pressure down for some fine detail
  6. :o The 6920 HAD A PROBLEM.......nooooooo
  7. ME, I use that technique have done for a long time ( CB areal on fendt) it's great but works best with black plastic for some reason . If you want to weather it, only do a little like you say, If you have the Tamiya weathering sets use em, not to good for mud but you can very slowly build up a worn look on bits and bobs, it's a slow job but due to this it's hard to over do it, Also you can use a soft silver artists pencil for worn steps etc. with the mud you are prity commited once you start best left to an expert :D sounds like those lights are some full on commitment
  8. When I worked for John deere I would have got the sack if my van looked like that
  9. Just had a look at the name tag on my shirt.........it's Dave
  10. sorry... I go with the chopper, ever one of these I worked on in my JD fitter dayshad a chopper, even if not used but that looks the dogs mate :'( nice work
  11. On this one it's fixed as this is more of a scale display model, I hope to do one like this with a little less detail and mud with working doors and rear window for use on farm layouts. I got a britains ford T8040 today as I was passing the shop, I intend to leave the tractor as factory and just lightly weather it so it can still be wheeled around the farm
  12. cheers for your comments, I'm glad you like it .I will be doing a post on how to. I can do copies of the model if anyone is intrested, I have a post in the scratchbuilds etc section, pm me for details. The mud is put on with a brush, then airbrushed over (double action )
  13. Ha ha look at the photos in the last 2 posts at the bottom of page three, its not painted in them.......but it's there
