  1. Thanks guys. I don't know the exact size of those fields but the first took about four hours to complete (including dealing with a blockage) and the second was only part completed when I left at 2115 hrs.
  2. Just getting round to posting a few photographs from a couple of weeks ago. I had to endure several bloody mosquito bites for the late evening shots :'( Enjoy... ...and off into the sunset...
  3. Yes, wonderful pics, thanks for sharing with us.
  4. A few photographs from early this evening near Killin. Apologies for the small missing sections of a couple of shots, PC and/or Photobucket playing up! Can anyone tell me what is most likely to be used in the tank at the front of the tractor to add to the silage - bacteria culture or acid?
  5. When I first spotted it, the worker was working on it. Looked as if he was having problems with it. It did seem to be making quite a rattling noise at times!
  6. Thanks guys. Not from Dumfriesshire - originally Renfrewshire, now slumming it up in Fife!
  7. A few shots from yesterday. First up, a Lamborghini Premium 1060 and Vicon DMP 2401 TC 8ft mounted Mower Conditioner at work near Lochmaben not too far from Dumfries. Next, a few shots of a Case and JF CMT 2800 Drum Mower Conditioner at work near Elvanfoot, South Lanarkshire.
  8. Wasn't too bad, although a frog popped out of the cut straw afterwards!
  9. The farmer said that they do bale a little if short with wheat or barley straw, but that it is very poor quality and not very absorbent. Most gets left.
  10. Been a member of this board for ages, finally sorting out some (hopefully) interesting photographs to post for you. JD and Votex topper. This is from Renfrewshire in 2001 when I worked on a nature reserve. We arranged for a local farmer to come by in August and cut a meadow to improve it for wildflowers, feeding birds etc. On this occasion, the vegetation was by the farmer's own account 'a bit too long' and the topper gearbox was smokin'! He got it done in the end though! Softrak with fingerbar mower, also Renfrewshire in 2001. This machine was brought in to cut back reeds in 'rather tricky areas'. Cloverleaf Groundcare (Cheshire?) came with this machine. Last I'd heard they may have gone bankrupt, although they did do a lot of jobs for SNH, English Nature and RSPB I believe. MF and Kuhn in Inverclyde, 2005.
  11. Sorry, deliberate mistake The baler shots are in wheat, an adjacent field to the OSR.
  12. Some pics from yesterday thanks to good weather and a very kind farmer. Enjoy!
  13. I asked a neighbouring farmer today - it's Phacelia which is grown as a sacrificial crop to boost fertility of the soil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phacelia
  14. Hi Guys I thought this may have been Linseed (as I was told by someone allegedly in the know) but it doesn't look like photographs I have googled. Any idea? Growing in West Fife at the moment.
  15. Claas Lexion Terra Trac rather oddly going down the esplanade road in Kirkcaldy, Fife this afternoon. Only the second one I have ever seen. Reel being transported in fron by a Massey. Got qite a few interested looks from some of the proles!
  16. Yes, I have seen that adaptor set, I have seen it mentioned that it can be used to make Siku rear implements fir the rear of Britains tractors. No mention of UH tractors though. I did have the Siku Vicon front mounted mower sitting on the triangular front linkage of the UH Deutz Agrotron, but it looked a little too high. The sweeper could probably sit on this too.
  17. Thanks for these links, guys. I'm really impressed with some of Siku's latest implements, shame they only seem to fit Siku tractors (which I'm not impressed with!).
  18. Anyone got any decent photos of these two new releases? I see G&M have them in stock now.
  19. ...I'm thinking a bit like a giant strimmer where centrifugal force straightens the chains out which whirl round...sounds odd though.
