  1. Am I right in assuming that the flatbed of an artic truck trailer is always made of wood? If so does anyone know the usual width and approx length of the timber planks used. Do particular types of trailer have a particular type of floor material? If they are not all wood what other material is used and are there any loads that are never carried on a trailer bed built from this material. I'm currently building a twin axle flat artic trailer to go with a Newray tarctor unit and want to sort out the trailer bed. Thanks
  2. Grey and showers....a fire in one of the local shops during the night has livened up the town a bit though!
  3. I use the same techniques as allis8550. To score the card I use OLFA P-800 Cutting Knife. It has a specially designed blade to score the card and you only need to pass the blade across a couple of times to get it snap easily and 99 times out of 100 perfectly. If there is any issue then you haven't scored it deeply enough. I believe the knife is available online. Got mine from EMA for ?8-00. You can get spare blades as well.
  4. 7000 Edition 44 Euro direct from Claas with no shipping cost as I ordered a UH Cougar and they send the Lexion by mistake. Had to ship the Cougar separately. ;D
  5. Superb, though I haven't unpacked mine yet! On the reputation of having minor breakages a score of 9.5.
  6. Up to a yaer ago I'd have bought this as soon as it was released. Glad I didn't buy immediately but will look to get one when they hit bargain prices. It's not a collectors model, only really has the name of Britains going for it. I'll give it 5.
  7. I thinks 8.5. he Pirelli branded tyres is a big improvement but the twiddly thing....well its there to give playablilty (is that a real word) so shows the market it's aimed at. Give me a UH 818 any day.
  8. Look at the B I N Price! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VERY-RARE-siku-grimme-potato-harvester-3956-mint_W0QQitemZ280016418076QQihZ018QQcategoryZ117196QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. Is this worth this much? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/County-1884-Tractor_W0QQitemZ190015087184QQihZ009QQcategoryZ117196QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I've got two in the loft!!
  10. Only bought this one because of the price. However I?ve just checked my second Brown Country box version 818 and it has the paint cracking as well but no flaking yet. The paint flakes off very easily, it?s as if it hasn?t adhered to the plastic. Almost as if the paint has shrunk. I've checked the Green Country box version and the Fendt boxed Petrol Blue versions I have and they do not have the problem. Photo of for reference below. I think you should be able to just make out the crack lines on the cab frame (in the Fendt green). The darker area in at the bottom is where the paint has flaked off completely. Looks like a duff batch. A careful inspection before you buy a UH 818!!
  11. I've just picked up a UH Fendt 818 in the latest Brown Country Collection box. On opening the box and examining the model I see the paint on the cab frame is all cracked and flaking off. The rest of the model is fine, just the cab. Anyone else's model in a similiar condition? Only paid ?9-00 for it so not to bothered but I was wondering whether it's a general fault or a one off. P
  12. PDH

    Ebay user names.

I see you've 'warmed' to the charms of Ebay again then IHP! Good see see you there.
  13. Whilst searching for something else I came across this website http://scalescenes.com Whilst mainly designed for model railways, possibly quite handy could be the items in the 'Scratchbuilders yard' section. I see they do items to O scale so some of the 'texture sheets' could be very useful as they are or scaled up if you have a suitable printer...I can see uses for the concrete wall, concrete ground, stone walls and tarmac. Good price (and you can pay by PayPal). Look like once you have bought a textured sheet you can print as many times as you like.
  14. Sorry guys...yes you're right...should have written 2004 not 1994. Apologies all round but I had only just got back home after a 350 mile round trip to the NEC when I wrote it!! To re-cap (And get it right) It's a Fendt 924. Siku exclusive model (Reference No 4600) produced in 2004 for the 35th anniversary of Vedes. This model is world-wide limited edition of 5.000 pieces.
  15. I assuming this is the Fendt 924. This is a Siku exclusive model (Reference No 4600) produced in 1994 for the 35th anniversary of Vedes. This model is world-wide limited edition of 5.000 pieces. I believe Vedes is a Toy Shop group/association a bit like Toymaster in the UK. Take a look at http://www.vedes-shop.de/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store for more info. Hope this helps.
  16. Deere-est try here http://www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?sts=t&an=Henderson&y=0&tn=Build+Your+Own+Farm+Buildings&x=0&sortby=3 There are several at all prices......
  17. People on this Forum who ask for things and when they get them don't have the courtesy to say 'Thank You'
  18. OK Ben...I'll email them to you direct later today. It will be easier that way rather than have to cut the image size to fit FTF.
  19. The ISBN system only started about 30 years ago so not all books have them. That's why I have given full details of title, author etc. Anyway checking the three I have - Build Your Own Farm Buildings by Frank Henderson Published by Dairy Farmer (Books) Ltd Second Edition 1960 has no ISBN Number Build Your Own Farm Buildings by Frank Henderson Published by Farming Press Fifth Edition 1974 (reprinted 1975 and 1978) has ISBN Number 0 85236 042 8 Personally I would recommend the Second Edition Farm Buildings Volume 1 by John B Weller Published by Crosby Lockwood and Son Ltd First Edition 1965 has no ISBN Number I've tracked down a copy of the Benoy book and it's hopefully on its way. I'll let you know what that is like. What would you like scans of?
  20. That should be Farm Buildings....derrrrrrr
  21. Dropped in to the Honiton bookshop and picked up the copy of the other book last night. Only had a quick glance through it and this one is very good as well. It's called Fram Buildings by John B Weller and this is Volume 1 Techniques, Design, Profit. Published by Crosby Lockwood & Son Ltd 1965. Mine is a first edition. The copy I picked up actually came from the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food library!! Lots of pictures, drawings and small scale plans. Has a more modern feel to it, and there are some nice period adverts included from companies such as Atcost. Volume 2 is called Farm Buildings: Structural Techniques and Materials Vol 2: Foundations and Floors. On the rear cover is another book advertised -Farm Buildings Conversions and Improvements by W G Benoy which may also be of interest. Another recommended book.
  22. In 1/35th military modelling (Tamiya kits etc) some people use very thin lead sheet. When folded and painted it looks pretty realistic. I think you can buy the lead from some model stores. Just another thought!!
  23. Try an old cotton hankerchief. Nice and thin and you can usually see the weave.
