  1. Popped down the M3 to Surry today and collect a Massey 188 with a loader and a Votex 9ft topper from a commercial dealer. Once I got myself unloaded back at the yard I helped the guys in the workshop removing wheels and cabs from three Ford 5000's. And this evening we have been mainly popping over to the German Shepherd breeders' place again.......
  2. The point or your point? While I agree with some of what you say, times change. Hobbies included. It isn't about making models for select collectors to relish in adding to their theme, it's about making enough models to appeal to more people - diecast collectors, farm workers, dealership staff. New collectors need to be found to keep sales up and this is not going to be done by producing few models by few brands. It's business sense, not collectors' affection which is at the forefront of these companies. I don't find the hobby particulary exciting at the moment I have to admit, my theme is machinery I have used or driven and from the big model producers there is very few to chose from. It does make each purchase I do make that bit more special though. Since the hype leading up to the Marge release and then how very quickly it was forgotten thanks to the big stomping foot of UH, I have become even more disgruntled. The models UH are releasing will be popular, they will sell to many people - many will be different people. If you are one who collects only one scale, or only one model producer, or only one OEM then maybe you are the one now missing the point.........
  3. Ha! Merry Christmas, me! I can only wish..... Or write to the universe which seems to be the latest fad Don't get what they want, get what you think they would like. If you don't know what they like, you don't know them well enough to buy them a present
  4. We have got snow chains for the Cabstars, Chris. I have never used snow socks but I understand in Scandinavian countries they are highly rated. We need the help with grip because in no uncertain terms, as good as the Cabstar is at getting around driveways etc, they'd get stuck on a cow pat! I like the chains, easy to fit, robust and grip like like Velcro. Happy to recommend them to anyone
  5. Delivering what, at that hour then bud? I'm off to Totnes to collect an MF168 and then Exeter on the way home for a JCB 3CX.

  8. Oooooof!! That's a bit cheeky, I hope it works out for you better than it works out for your 'mate'.
  9. I was when I was on for Wessex, I'm self employed so just did the one season with them. Too busy to do it again I also worked for Agrivert nine years ago on thr same contract.
  10. Been chopping logs up father in laws today. Bit of manual axe swinging makes a nice change from the day job on the Palax processor. Especially when rewarded with a huge roast pork dinner with roast spuds, parsnips and carrots and broccoli and cauliflower. Mmmmm Mmm!! Infact I have eaten like a King this weekend, last night we went to The Well in Bulkington where I has flat cap mushroom under grilled goats cheese to start, rare sirloin steak for main and a Victoria Plumb creme veiled for desert. Friday night was Howards christmas meal, about 60 of us all told. Roast pigeon to start, stuffed loin of lamb for main and Baileys chocolate cheesecake to finish up. After that and a few ciders, the Poles got us all to join them in one of their past times........ Downing vodka :D
  11. Nice area up there, I've covered a lot of that area in sewage sludge!
  12. Westbury, Wiltshire Didn't know that, the Fry family originate from Malmesbury )
  13. What I'd like to know is how many of those people complaining actually watched the show and how many found out about it and then watched a replay and only then complained. The strikes made no impact and this is just the unions trying to make a noise. Clarkson is not a comedian, he is just a funny bloke. An idiot, a gobsh*** and a bit of a moaner - sometimes. Other times he is honest, ballsey and says what the majority of the public think. His comment this time wasn't funny, nor was it serious. It's purely off the cuff. On the thoughts of Clarkson being sacked, ridiculous. Sold to something like 36 countries and earning the BBC millions, Top Gear would be gone without Jeremy Clarkson because Richard Hammond would quit. The complaints are not genuine, he earns the BBC multiples of his licence fee paid wage and so the Beeb would be daft to fall victim to the pressure of sich daft censorship brought on by public sector unions. Two other points, there should definitely be a Praise Commission. Top Gear should pay its own presenters wages.
  14. Hooooooooooooooooooow much?!!! And cattel is spelt cattle :D http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/britains-scale-scania-cattel-truck-conversion-/110783830025?pt=UK_ToysGames_DiecastVehicles_DiecastVehicles_JN&hash=item19cb3b1809

  18. Poor old fella! I take it you don't keep them in a keepsake box like the kids' first tooth etc... \
  19. Sat up at Cheffins, Cambs. Got here at 8am which wahs good going considering I left at 4am and made a diesel stop. Straps all off and put tidy for my reload. Spares all labelled up with their lot numbers, now just waiting to get unloaded, even at 8am I was the eleventh artic through the gate \
  20. Just make them up Mark. There's no set pattern to many buildings as they are often built into a space. Although for modern buildings you can just follow a modular design of bays, most being twenty foot, some smaller, some bigger. Spans can vary even more depending on usage and roof loading. I have a beef shed in the farm layou section and a dairy house in customs for sale which I built for Tim Coombes. Have a look and if you want any help or some tips, just fire me a PM.
