  1. Mostly packing and clearing my house out ready to move this week.......had enough for one day now!
  2. Yeah, 10 months using a hedge cutter starting on verges in May, June and July before moving onto hedges from July onwards. Thanks Tris, always have had trouble with that one.....
  3. Not my style Chris as tempting as it may be at times. Looking like a friend of mine will be taking my place so keeping on good terms here as he may need my help with how to operate one or two of the machines I use.
  4. After several months of searching I'm now leaving my current job to go and work for a hedge and verge cutting contractor based near to where my partner lives. The relationship between myself and the farm manager where I am now has been strained for a while now for various reasons, he's been acting as if everything is normal but I can't forgive or forget his last outburst at me, it wasn't the first time either. From mid May I will be driving a 2011 John Deere 6230 fitted with a Bomford Falcon 6 meter reach hedge cutter for 10 months of the year in future now doing a task that I've always enjoyed and working set hours so I can actually plan my life outside work.
  5. The same thing as the past 5 days.....destoning only with a patch in this field where it was more stone than soil it was noisey at times!
  6. No chance of changing their minds on brands Mike as they've used JD for a very long time and get excellent support because of it. Its a very select task they carry out Sean, will give more details once I've spoken to the farm manager at work tomorrow, the owners have my notice but he doesn't yet hence why I'm not revealing too much yet.
  7. 8 John Deere tractors, not too sure on the farm kit as I won't be working on the farm itself but on the contracting side.
  8. Finally after months of searching and interviews I've been offered and have accepted another job....will post more details in a couple of days time once everyone at work has been informed!
  9. Started drilling beet today, been having one of those days, if it wasn't bits breaking on the Germinator it was the beet drill suffering from problems!
  10. Knowing where Brian works, I would say the Claas tractor you'll be driving and any other Claas equipment they own Robert. Good luck with it, hopefully you'll get on ok there.
  11. Yeah, certainly am, mind you, today aside, they may actually fare better playing IN the dark!! I do have the 4 55w lights on the roof on an isolator switch so they don't always have to be on with the main beam though, certainly hear the engine change note at tick over when I turn them on!
  12. Fitted a new handle and mechanism to the window in my girlfriends bedroom, been broken for a while now. We then got on and glazed her new 8 x 12 greenhouse which was fun with the wind here today! Been a busy weekend with rewiring the front spot lights on my Defender yesterday after the wiring kit that came with them failed, I then fitted the centre switch console I have for it, wired up the roof mounted spotlights and the beacon bar on it, been trying to get round to it for weeks!
  13. Carrying on with the out of season overhaul on the potato harvester and searching the job listings yet again......one more applied for today!
  14. Congratulations Cerin, now I know who to pester if our 808 straw blower plays up
  15. I've just had a quote for a reconditioned gearbox, new dual mass flywheel and a clutch kit in my Defender that comes to less than that including 8hrs labour for the fitting and the dreaded VAT so it does sound really steep!
  16. Whatever did the service involve for it to come to that amount?!?!!!
  17. This video as its along the lines of what our lad at work is going through chasing the damned Pink Footed geese off our wheat and barley!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_m7aC-cxY0s&feature=youtu.be
  18. Yes, I've been having the same warning come up as well Sean. Thought it might have just been my laptop as its been playing up until I saw your post!
  19. There's still nothing wrong with them, my original pair are Type C with all round protection, the new pair are Type A with just the front protected. I don't always need the all round protection which makes the trousers very hot and heavy to wear which is the reason behind the change. Had to get a new pair of boots as well as the legal requirements have changed since I done my original course!!
  20. Husqvarna 365 X-torq chainsaw with a 24" bar, will join my existing 346xp and 135 chainsaws. Got some big logs to knock into touch at some point and I don't want to be messing about with a 15" doing double cuts to do them! Also ordered a new pair of chainsaw trousers to replace my 13 year old pair!
  21. Had an unexpected day off today due to one of the main pumps going on the potato harvester last night so I've spent the day working on my Defender fitting the snorkel and roof mounted light/cb aerial bar. I've also finally got the passenger door to shut properly, someone in the past had over tensioned the push button release rod so it was always trying to release the door catch. In the past week I've also had a set of BFG Mud Terrains fitted, looks a lot better now in my opinion!
  22. Latest purchases....... For the Defender.. A bar and spot lights Mantec snorkel 2 new door latches Passenger door catch assembly Fan belt tensioner and 2 idler pulleys Pair of rear mud flaps Rear brake pads Injector wiring harness, not currently faulty but not risking it as a known problem area. For the house, 500 litres of heating oil as the tank is nearly empty, I might be leaving here but I'm not getting cold until I do!!
  23. Nope was use for shepherding duties. A-bar and spotlights will be going on later this week, not sure if I'll be fitting a raised air intake on it yet.
