  1. We use several contractors on the farm I work on, its easier and more cost effective with the more specialised jobs than it would be to own our own kit. Listed below are what we use them for, no idea on charges though Hedge cutting Suspension fertiliser application Round bale silage making Maize drilling/harvesting/clamping Lime spreading Sugarbeet harvesting Sugarbeet haulage Ditching Soil analysis (nutrients/acidity/disease)
  2. I had similar with Barclays about 6 weeks ago only they were more on the ball and had blocked the first iffy transaction and the card number from being used along with the online banking service as well. Made things awkward but at least it shows they do monitor usage and nothing was lost
  3. If the Major one is anything like the Bomford one my mate uses where I used to work then it will chew through anything.......so far he's had a dead sheep and a set of cambridge rolls through it that the game keeper left laying about, was only the frame left of them after he hit them, no damage to the mower either
  4. You mean you were afraid of getting caught with the evidence by the other half ;D ;D
  5. My boss would have kittens at the thought of of those of you under 14 driving tractors, we aren't allowed anyone riding in our tractors under that age let alone driving them, while it is against the law it is also in our own employment contracts not to as well so we would get a severe telling off and warning for doing so
  6. thanks for that, my colleague and myself were trying to remember that one all afternoon ;D ;D
  7. Boss went to pick our new bull up form York today, met his current owner there who'd brought him from Northumberland, got him back here this afternoon and put him in the pen with a barren heifer.....we were talking about a name for him beginning with D as we already had Austin and still have a Balmoral and Clinton, within 2 minutes he's doing what a Bull should do so his name is ****!!!!! ;D ;D
  8. ;D ;D I suppose on the plus side you have very little chance of turning a horse over on its side unloading it ;D
  9. Oh dear, they do know of your ability of getting as much on a load as possible........next thing we'll be seeing is pictures of 8 horses crammed in where 3 should be ;D ;D
  10. I don't think many would cope at all. When I started working on farms 13 years ago I was lucky in that respect as the one in question had a large fleet of tractors starting at the old to the new, the main loader used was a Super Major with a Cameron Gardner rear forklift and SteelFeb front loader, thats despite owning a teleporter. I wouldn't mind driving older stuff at all some of the time but the comfort of todays kit is much better given the hours we spend in them and the fact that hessian sacks are hard to find to use as a cushion for your ass on steel seats these days ;D The fleet on the first farm I worked on is as follows (450 acres): Allis Chalmers B Ferguson FE35 x 2, 1 fitted with Twose Angledraulic hedge cutter Ferguson 35 Fordson Super Major x 2, 1 with forklift/loader McCormick International 276 Ford 5000 Ford 6600 Ford 6610 Ford 7810 Valmet 8100 Sanderson 247TS MF 50B MF 780 Special New Holland TF42 Fraser Buggy IID Mastenbroek Land Drainer Changes since I left: McCormick MTX150 added, no trade ins New Holland TF42 sold last year for new Case AFX Second Fraser Buggy in fleet JCB tracked digger bought Land Drainer sold JCB 530-70 replaced Sanderson
  11. Well that would be a mixture of operator incompetance and having the wrong size trailers for the job in hand then : Chip anyone?
  12. Looking to change my 6920s within the next 12 months at present
  13. The JD is way behind the NH in terms of operator convenience, comfort and features. Its a lot quieter and brighter in the NH cab, really puts JD to shame
  14. Some cab ones now: Multifunction lever with direction control, speed control, range changes, cruise control, hitch control, two spools and headland management on it. Also in bottom of picture are the 4 toggle switches for spool valves and computer screnn at top Dashboard Couple of the screens in the computer for performance monitoring Side console panel with 4wd, diff lock, Headland management settings, engine speed memory, pto control and programming buttons
  15. As promised some more pictures of the T7030 subsoiling today.......I don't want my JD back
  16. Yeah, front linkage and pto, will need both for the haulm topper
  17. Yeah will still have the full suspension, air brakes and front brakes come as a package with the 50k option. On the other side of things the 50k option may help the resale value down the line on it is the other way to look at it. Another thing with the New Holland is that it comes with 3 years warranty as standard
  18. Pretty much John, 50k, air brakes, all round suspension. We'd probably stick to 40k though when we do buy as for the amount of road miles we do 50k would be a luxury, something to talk over nearer the time though, which ever way I'd like air brakes as it then gives me a compressor on board for blowing the radiator out should (when) it blocks up baling or poato harvesting although it does also have a reversible cooling fan as an option which did work well on the CVX's for cleaning out dust
  19. Nearest blue branch is at North Walsham then Wymondham, nearest red branch is at Fakenham, the latter being the closest at 12 miles away
  20. How will that help if we have nothing to do with it ;D
  21. Doubt we'll be having the MF for a few months now as we'll be finished field work by this time next week so won't have anything to do with it. Struggling to find one at the moment anyway as the dealer has sold their demonstrator
  22. The New Holland has arrived I've not used it for much more than an hour so far but first impressions are very good Will get some more pictures over the next couple of days as got it until Tuesday morning
  23. Thanks. No we don't as both my 6920s and the 6810 have factory fitted steel tank guards under them and the 6910 has a home made one fitted otherwise we would go through a tank a season at least on our stoney ground 6810 doesn't really do much requiring lots of rubber these days, just some top work, irrigation, trailer work and potato planting so its unlikely she'll get new boots yet
  24. I will do, looking forward to it as I've heard lots of good reports about them as well. Trouble is we're just about worked up now so running out of work to do with it
  25. Some distance shots of our neighbours at work..... 4 Fastrac's on Grimme de-stoners, 1 Fastrac cultivating, 1 Fastrac on a Standen 6 row planter, also on the field was another Fastrac ridging and a JCB loadall feeding the planter Floating out at sea from where we were working was this monstrous crane type barge which was being moved today, presumably to the windfarm being constructed, certainly caused much conversation over the CB's Finally a short video of the 6810, tiller and planter
