  1. Here's a few pictures from today of potato planting in process. I was on this all day yesterday but had to go and finish ridging the last few acres up today so the usual chap was back on it. The bed tiller on the front is mixing 55kg/ha of Vydate 10g pesticide granules in the soil to control soil pests, particularly Potato Cyst Nematodes which can destroy the yield of the crop.
  2. Should be having a New Holland T7030 Auto Command delivered late tomorrow to play with for a couple of days 8)
  3. They don't fit the right transmission in the right range of tractor for us Sean so it rules them out at the moment
  4. Certainly is In the next six months we should now be having 4 tractors on demo: JD 7430 NH T7030 MF 7485 Case Puma CVX 165 Will of course get pictures as and when we do, Case and MF are making big inroads locally, two estates that were green for as long as anyone can remember have gone to MF and our neighbour went from Fendt to Case and is more than happy with them
  5. Been speaking to someone today about the possibility of trying a New Holland T7030 AutoCommand and should be getting a phone call about a MF 7485 or 7490 in the morning too, might as well try other brands as both those two brands are gaining popularity locally I dread to think what the true cost of ownership of the 6920s is for the past 12 months with depreciation, labour and diesel into the equation as well
  6. A 7530 is too big for what we want it for really, a 7430 is about right, another 40hp on top of existing on some of the kit we have would rip it to pieces. We will be looking into what to do carefully brand wise and price wise. 6920s will be going, its cost £13 per clock hour in repairs in the past year which is ridiculous
  7. Not really comparing the two as it wasn't on demo to us just as a loaner while mine was down. Axion was nicer in some ways in the cab but hard to compare due to different transmissions. Buster liked the passenger seat in the 7830 though, soon had himself perched up on it ;D
  8. Hopefully look at other brands too, can't really afford not to in my opinion
  9. Both, getting prices for a 6930 and a 7430, the latter is the favourite of the two
  10. Few pictures of the 7830 I've had on loan today Lets play sub-soiler point spot the difference ;D
  11. Had enough of this one thats for certain, while the tractor's been trouble we can't fault the dealers back up which goes a long way when we do decide what to change it for
  12. Well its injector pump problems, if it does play up in the morning then it'll be having a new pump fitted, changed all the less expensive bits now. We are getting prices for a new JD tractor at the minute just out of interest more than to change it this year
  13. 6920s died Sunday morning, was repaired yesterday morning, broke down again yesterday afternoon and was sorted again then same old problems again this morning so had to have them out again, its been in use this afternoon with someone else driving as I've had a JD 7830 out on loan all day today so will see what the 69 does in the morning
  14. Ask away Niels We don't bother for several reasons, its safer for one, it speeds up the operation asI don't have to worry about them being able to pick stuff off but mainly all of our potatoes go over a grader anyway so it would be a wasted exercise
  15. A bad accident on the road at the end of the field I was working on requiring 5 fire engines, 2 land ambulances, doctors, numerous police cars and two air ambulances which landed in the field, sadly one fatality, another not looking good and 6 more injured. Two cars and a motor bike involved, early thoughts are the chap who died had a heart attack at the wheel according to one of the policemen causing the carnage to happen
  16. I have sales leaflets on them and all of the Sanderson models somewhere, may take a while to find them though. Will have a look when I get a minute as think they may still be at Mum's house \
  17. Gives plenty of growing space in the ridge for the spuds, they don't dry out too much when they're irrigated regularly
  18. Beds are 30 inches before de-stoning takes place Niels, once thats been through them there's around 14 inches of clod/stone free soil to plant in. they have to be that deep to allow for half filling the furrows with clods and stones. Potatoes are planted 6-7 inches deep with the same amount of loose soil beneath them where possible, we're on 36 inch rows/72 inch beds here, would imagine our green tuber figures are also less than 1%, the only time we ever really get them is in very shallow beds in the more heavy clay soils of which we only have the odd patch or two
  19. No it hasn't as far as I know, its never given any problems so far but have wondered. Get the feeling this may be more mechanical/electrical type injector fault than fuel related \
  20. That field is a rarity, most of them have quite a bit of stone in, patches of that one are bad as well. The beds are about 26-30 inches deep on there so not shallow at all, they just look it in the pictures
  21. This stuff usually works on these, its not cheap. With it being common rail its often just a small bit of dirt in them but its obviously more this time \
  22. Another video of the 6910 and de-stoner
  23. The piece of crap of a 6920s of mine waiting till Sunday morning to break down, fuel injectors have gone down for the second time in a month, this time I flushed them wth the cleaner as per the dealers usual trick but it hasn't worked so a waste of a day >
  24. It usually is a day or two before the de-stoner gets to them but often on the land here if it dries too much the clods don't break down. The weather often plays a hand in it here as well, we'd rather push on while it was dry than waste a few days letting the beds dry out
  25. 6920s and bed former Short (very short ) video of the 6910 and de-stoner
