  1. Yes that was us, well spotted
  2. We think its the beet that have actually helped to keep it dry, but it is wetter than it looks in the pictures, after taking 13 loads of beet out of the field onto the road it was 3 inches deep in mud We actually have a few niggling "issues" with the sprayer at the minute waiting to be sorted out
  3. I believe from memory (paperwork is at work) that anyone born before 1963 can apply pesticides on their own or their employers farm without the need for the PA certificates, if they work for a contractor or were born later than this then they would still need the certificates. However with the various assured crops schemes they will usually require the person who applies the pesticides to hold a certificate and also the powers that be are trying to get away from the whole issue of grandfathers rights wth regards to spraying these days
  4. The liquid fertiliser could be put on with standard nozzles but then you could lose a lot in spray drift, with these nozzles there's zero drift and everything that comes out of them ends up on the ground. The fertiliser is thicker than water, water being approx 1kg/litre, this is 1.23kg/litre. Its a 6 row harvester, in a good day it would probably lift 30 acres plus in ideal conditions. Speed is dependant on ground conditions and yield but probably anything up to 10-12kph I would guess
  5. Doesn't take long to get a trailer loaded
  6. We've also got the contractor in at the moment lifting the last of our sugarbeet, brand new harvester agin for this season, has done just over 900hrs with it at the moment.
  7. Heres a few more pictures from this week, first one is of the two liquid fertilizer tanks, second is a standard sprayer nozzle and the third is the one of the fertilizer nozzles Three of some of the calves we've had so far
  8. Thanks Mandy, its the test you have to pass to be able to legally apply pesticides with a crop sprayer
  9. This is our first season on the Omex stuff Simon, we've used them for putting the suspension fertiliser on before potatoes and sugarbeet for years but have been unable to sensibly go to liquid fertilser ourselves until we upgraded to a trailed sprayer. We're using the TeeJet Stream jet nozzles for applying it. Its the N20 with sulphur we're on at the moment but we do have a tank of N30 as well Our sprayer was delivered to the dealers nearly 3 weeks ago Niels so it wouldn't have been ours that you saw last week
  10. I can't remember what the final price was exactly but it was around the £23-25k mark, the Knight, well that was shocking, boss never did say anymore but the price he last told me was just over £40k :of Would you need a 3200 litre model with tracking drawbar for your area though Ricky? We only went tracking because of growing potatoes and sugarbeet \
  11. Well the end chice came down to Berthoud, Knight or John Deere, unfortunately despite our desire to buy British built the Knight was way out of our budget leaving just Berthoud and JD, it was a close run thing but at the end of the day the JD won on several points: Mudguards fitted to protect nozzles - not an option on Berthoud Clean water tank fillable off the ground - involved climbing up the front to the Berthoud, also larger on the JD Better suspension on the JD Build quality of the JD better and stronger, quite a weight difference between the two Concerns over foaming in the tank on the Berthoud, rep says no they dont, I said they do as we used to run two of them and our current mounted one does as well Good local dealer support, nearest Berthoud agent is 50+ miles away 2 of our neighbours run JD sprayers and praise them, another one has just bought one as well so they come recommended to us Induction bowl much larger on the JD JD controls much more straightforward to use It was really a case of get the leaflets in front of us and compare them, boss made his choice then gave me the leaflets to look at to see what my thoughts were and we both said that the JD looked the better machine of the two based on all the above
  12. I only said that there would be no more JD tractors on the farm It's not too bad for balance but there is a warning both in the book and from the dealer that the 400ltr rinse tank must be kept full at all times when the main tank is
  13. Thanks, yes its 24m, our previous one was a 4 section machine as well, starts over complicating it if you go up to anymore really. From what I remember of our old Sands where I used to work they are overly complicated in many ways, just wait until you get an air leak Thanks, you can put liquid on with most sprayers, in our case we're using special fertiliser nozzles on it though, I'll get some pictures of them at some point
  14. I'll get you a picture of the liquid fertiliser tanks Marky, I think we buy it either by the litre or the cubic metre, we bought two 40 cubic metre tanks during the winter, it all arives from Omex at Kings Lynn by tanker so no recycling for you. We went over to it because of the amount of days we lose to the wind with granular fertiser in our coastal location and to save on the amount of plastic waste 500kg bags create The poles are to power the control box ;D
  15. You might spot why if you see which tractor is on the front of it, 6420s does the spraying
  16. Been a while since I updated this topic, mainly due to the snow and wet weather. I've spent the last few weeks carrying out a major overhaul of our de-stoner ready for potato planting, think the bill stands at around £5-6000 to date and between times helping with the cows as they are currently calving. However I did pick up our new sprayer Monday and we got it all set up in the field with the dealers engineer yesterday. As soon as it dries out enough I'll be putting the liquid fertiliser on the rape and silage land with it Its fitted with a tracking drawbar so the sprayer wheels follow the tractor wheels rather than running more crop down The control panel Screen readout showing rate in litres per hectare, colour of nozzle fitted, area covered, spraying pressure and ground speed
  17. Picking up our new sprayer today and starting to get our nozzles swapped onto it then getting a phonecall to say my PA2 test would be on Thursday, all coming together nicely now
  18. If Dan can't help you with rubber ones I am able to supply solid resin wheels
  19. No need to apologise Nick my comment wasn't aimed towards anyone inparticular, just a general reminder to all, saves members getting unwanted pm's from others who think their own models are for sale when they're not
  20. Quick reminder to everyone, this topic is for items that you are building to sell This one is for items that are for your own collection http://www.farmtoysforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,19029.2685.html
  21. I know all about their warranty back up unfortunately lets just say the issue of which I'm not allowed to speak of ended up with two of Claas UK's top blokes (Claas had just taken on Renault when we aquired the tractor), the rep and service manager in a meeting with my then boss, it was that serious and had cost us and another manufacturer a lot of time and money trying to trace
  22. Well when I had the 836 on demo the radio wouldn't work all the time, if you shut the door hard it would go off for hours on end so I mentioned it to the rep, 3 months and 600 hrs later when we actually bought that tractor as an ex demo machine it was still like it despite us being told they had been through the tractor and sorted everything, one of the engineers at the local now gone Nortrac branch sorted it, loose pin in a multi plug, first thing that he checked, trouble is all Brockfords faffing about had fried half the internals in the radio so it needed replacing.....they wouldn't cough up for it either (there are other things but I'm not allowed to mention them ). There pdi and valet wasn't too great, was a funny smell in it and when I traced it the ash tray was full of *** ends
  23. The only big one in Suffolk that springs to mind at present is Renault East Anglia at Brockford which is where the 836 I had in a previous job originated from......less said about some of the muppets working there the better ;D
