Now that the weather has improved we've managed to get all of the beet in and are now getting on with this years potato crop. No changes from last year really other than we now have the 6910 to use on the de-stoner so no longer need to hire a tractor in for the job. Extremely dusty conditions on top when I'm sub soiling and bed forming but still awfully wet beneath. Got a few pictures from today, will try to get some more over the next few weeks 6910 and de-stoner

I'd read it as if they are fitted they need to be worn but as agricultural vehicles are exempt from needing them fitted in the first place if they aren't there they don't need to be fitted \ Informative none the less though Incidently I think the chances of the lap belt preventing injury in an accident are slim as what are the chances of the four M10 bolts that hold the seat in place not giving out under the force of the impact when the seatbelt tries to hold you in the seat?

What really PLEASED you?

My Discovery passed its MOT, just advisory on a slightly worn shock absorber bush and cracked number plate. 124250 miles and going strong still -
Oh well if you're only allowed the one just get something like an FW-60......should fill the drive nicely ;D

You've been lucky then, our contractor will never have another Bomford again after the amount of trouble it was in the 12 months he owned it, McConnel and Spearhead have been as bad for him though, plagued with electrical, hydraulic and build quality issues. Been another couple of bad ones locally as well so must have been a bad batch went through
-
I know our 6920s and 6420s do, not sure about the other two but i've not yet worn it and probably never will wear it
-
That looks a nice model, what a shame it isn't the original petrol/paraffin one on sliding axles though
-
Thats them Will..... We're still going to be using the front tank for liquid fertiliser Phill, will be able to take another 1000 litres with us then so will save more time
-
Don't blame you for that one, one season was more than enough for me ;D Looks a nice trimmer you have there now Steve, have you had much trouble with the Bomford machines?
-
There is a warning in the operators manual to keep the wash tank full at all times when the spray tank has anything in it to stop that happen. From what we were told by our dealer its usually the larger 4000 litre models that have turned over
-
We'll never part with it Marky, its the only tractor the feeder wagon will go on that allows us to get close enough to the feed bins
-
Yeah, its a good, well built sprayer, easy to use and set up, one minor computer fault early on but its been trouble free since then
-
Doesn't work like that as the same contractor that does the spreading has the contract to muck the sheds out, not possible to deal direct \
-
Cheers guys. There's another weight about the place as well, got a pack weight for the JD too, with all the main tractors having front linkage we need them. Not sure what the little one weighs but the other three come in at 500kg, 900kg and 1250kg, 500kg block only fits the 6810 though as it has wider liftarm spacing than the other two

Despite the terrible weather forecast for today we've missed most of the rain so I've been putting liquid fertiliser on the first wheats all day @ 285 litres/ha of 30% Nitrogen

Finally found the lead to my phone today so can get a few pictures off there. Here's our MF 135 doing its daily task on the Solus feeder wagon, we've just had to buy some maize silage in off a neighbour as we've got through all our whole crop and grass silage now So hungry they push it all out of the bins as soon as it goes in

Was still an old S reg Mog that delivered the spreader today Simon Alot of the muck from the Matthews sits still goes out onto the farms, thi stuff is from the site that joins onto our land and is straw based as shavings were getting expensive. I baled some of the straw for them last year off a couple of the fields we're spreading it back onto.
-
Yeah thats them, they delivered this one by Mog this morning Definately a well built and well thought out machine, right down to the auto oiler on all the chains and bearings at the business end of the machine
-
One local machinery hire place charges £175 a day or £700 per week for a 15 ton spreader with a spinner deck on it Marky. At those rates we could aford to hire a spreader for over 10 years before we've spent the same amount of money as a decent second hand machine would cost It's an Agri-Hire spreader Colm, they build their own machines
-
It would be dead money to have sitting about only to be used for at most 5 days a year so its easier and cheaper just to hire one at the moment

Got a muck spreader on hire at the minute after being badly let down by our contractor.......supposed to have come at the end of last week then the middle of this week then the end of this weeks so they got told what we thought of them in no uncertain terms as they were holding up the preparation of the spud ground Only downside is that we may not be able to have anymore turkey muck off them we're not the only farm they've done it to either! Spreader turned up middle of the morning, between 10.30am and 6.30pm we managed to get about 27ha spread in 3 different fields at a rate of approx 7.5 tons per ha. Got the cultivator right behind me as well due to the rather pungent smell of the stuff 6920s and Agri-Hire 16t horizontal beater spread with spinning discs Forward speed of 10.5 ish kph spreading a width of 10-12m
