  1. Cheers Smithy, hopefully get a bit more done back end of this week 👍
  2. Better being straight fuel... Better than having to worry about charging, charging points and also the expense of battery if of future failure. Country not set up for electric vehicles yet on long term journey. Short runs eg milk floats and factory tugs etc were ideal but the infrastructure and even the basic timescales on charging still don't warrant an everyday electric vehicle
  3. I know what you mean John, they didn't much seem to have moved since we were last there, only maybe the 1060 i was looking over as tin can over exhaust seemed to be a bit more used look rather than just rusty.... It's worth a call at farm shop, bet it's only a mile and half from the windmill, some of the steaks on the butchers counter looked good but downside was cooked sandwich options didn't have black pudding amongst the options......
  4. Was well worth the £4 Smithy, reet proper bacon and sausages too... Aye your right, an old tractor like that will run all day without a battery and drink not a lot of diesel and not much fancy to go wrong apart from the curse of the salty tin worm...
  5. Had a wander over to the coast at Lytham yesterday with Gemma, called in at Pembertons Farm shop (although Tom wasn't about his dad was, Tom Pemberton farm life on you tube) for a late breakfast, £4 for bacon sausage and egg butty that was cooked in front of you was spot on 👍 then headed down into Lytham, nice couple of miles on the prom walking off breakfast, a crying shame on way back to car though, that this 1060 would have been a tidy thing by the looks of it but salt now taken hold and she getting crustier than a crabs arse......
  6. Bit done this afternoon in a few hours up at the yard with Gemma, weights given there first dose of red lead, stabiliser brackets given a clean up with wire brush before meeting the paint brush also, inner weight frame blued as I'd had a comment or two about the lack of dark blue paint 🤣 set of hydraulic couplings fitted to the newly acquired mountings and piped up to the spools with a set of new hydraulic hoses that I had made up during my brew times at work, finally plough lights fitted to rear wings and wired up to test but need a grommet or two for the cable entrys... Still a bit to do but can see headway into having the back end finished off and then it's bits on going finishing rest of tractor...
  7. Had a bit of a surprise from one of the lads at work, a belated engagement present in the shape of a photo slate, he thought it fitting that we had a momento from the 472's first proper outing on the last day of 2022 when me and Gemma took both tractors up to have an hour with my dad, anyhow not what you expect at 6am in the brew room at work on a Thursday morning....
  8. Looks like you had a good time Smithy, hope you filled yourself up on free samples 😉
  9. Little bit of shopping at Charnleys for a hitch latch cable, new old stock pivot pin, return spring and a few nuts and washers, and also a couple of internet purchases to push the job on a bit, pair of stabiliser brackets for the axle trumpets, and fresh bolts, and also some plough lights, not the proper ones but pretty dam close in looks to the originals, we took the liberty of buying 4 and they still cheaper with the postage than one lamp..... bonus was finding the box of exhaust clamps that hold the anti spill couplings for the hydraulic spools and tipping pipe, Charnleys only had the one but then I thought it be worth a try at my local Landrover spares place and low and behold I let of a box full for almost the same price as a pair from Charnleys..... Bargain, so hopefully over weekend we get a bit more done, the eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted Gemma's handiwork with a set of wafers now wire brushed and waiting for a dose of red lead 👍
  10. Aye and price might have gone up a bit now over past 3 years.... There is a rarer 3 pot 4wd based on a 10/42 and comes with a 10/42 as a parts donor but price is wrong side of 10k.... And it's more of a risk despite the rarity due to the common cracking of the blocks on the 3 pots......
  11. Cheers Smithy, 🤣🤣 that be an idea although I was talking to Marshall man Andrew Graham and he suggested putting a 100 on the wedding present list 🤣🤣
  12. Cheers John... Aye a cantatore would certainly be an investment but saying that they seem to make less coin than the corresponding Roadless converted Majors.. do you remember this one from a couple of years back down at Malvern... From memory it made a little over 6k so in the scheme of things not mega coin
  13. Am very impressed James... That's going to be a unique build 👍
  14. On way back from Blists Hill on the A5 Gemma spotted this sign... And said it's handy knowing where we can bring the 465 when it's not feeling well 🤣🤣🤣
  15. We also had a few hours at Lake Vyrnwy or summat like that, outside Welshpool, spotted this old super major trencher that looked like it wanted saving by someone. The Lake is man made and provides drinking water for Liverpool...
  16. A few from on and around the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, impressive bit of building work when your up close but couldn't walk across the towpath as was closed for railings maintenance works.... Be a hell of a view from up there crossing the river Dee valley
  17. Looks like you been busy Smithy.... We just back from a week around mid Wales and dropped in to Blists Hill Victorian town not far from Telford.... Anyhow it's a great open air museum to visit .. not much in way of agriculture but plenty of engineering to look at ... Well worth a look if your into that sort of thing.... 👍watched a live casting demo whilst we were there, and even though we didn't have any the fish and chips smelt and looked Bob on. The museum features on an episode of Mark Williams Industrial Revelations along with visiting a steel aqueduct near Wrexham which we visited on the way down into Wales...
  18. First time up at the yard yesterday for a week or two after various bits of errands and also a week down in Wales with Gemma, having a tour about along the mid Welsh coast and also a wander about the Blists Hill Victorian town just outside Telford, so now we back home thought we'd put the battery leads on and get the toys out the box, all started first turn, so duly all got a run up the lane and a couple laps of the yard to circulate the oils......need to get act together though and put some time in on finishing project 22.... Only a little over 3 months until the local show season gets going.......not really touched her since curing the leaking brake shaft seals.... But after taking these photos yesterday I can't help but think a 4wd Nuffield would slot right in and keep the theme 🤔
  19. If it's a good run on the M6 / M5 it's roughly about 4 and a half hours on the journey down Smithy though that doesn't include the mandatory stop for a full English, but can add an hour to that on the journey back up home. It's neck end of 250 miles each way.
  20. Think we be having our annual trip down on a Sunday this year for a wander about, looks at HJ Pugh's auction catalogue for the Saturday sale a few nice tractors in including a Doe and a brace of 8210s hopefully grab a few photos 👍
