  1. That something you don't see every day in model form.....Good work though ....... you putting a buckrake up front??
  2. Though we did have a bit of fun with the apprentice and his mask.......... we put black insulation tape between the shade lens and the clear protector so when he struck up the mask stayed dark...... took him an hour to work that out then we did a similar trick but put a dead spider between the lenses so when he struck up he saw the spider staring at him........ there was a high pitched scream the mask launched across the workshop....... needless to say the apprentice kakked his keks and we were in stitches Then there was the time we changed a box of welding rods for a box of sparklers.......... that brought about the same amount of merriment......
  3. I've owned and used Speedglas welding helmets for 18 years now, used every day only changed the reactor batteries twice in my current one (6 years of use and abuse), they do a cheaper range of fixed shades or the top notch adjustable types, the adustable are better as if you turn them down to a lighter shade they bob on for plasma cutting
  4. Making progress with the project Bill, that be a relief when the Deere up and running again
  5. Your right there David.............Sometimes i think the phrase "Sledgehammer to crack a walnut" springs to mind at the size of some of the modern tackle........ It's ok have a massive mowing machine if you've the forager with a big enough appetite....... but then you've to have big enough trailers and enough of them to cope with that output............ and unless you've a big clamp the man on the buckrake ends up pulling his tripe out trying to keep up as the loads get tipped, might be able to get on these days but sometimes i think the older smaller set ups can be just as productive without the millon pound pricetag
  6. Some great pics David, thanks for posting them up Makes you wonder how big machinery is going to get.................... go back 40 years, a 6 and 8 ton grain trailers were a good load for tractors that averaged say 65-75hp and your average single axle slurry tanker was 750-1000 gallon......... then you see some of the monsters of the modern farming world, and you need to add another 200-250hp to the classics from back in the day............ what does the future hold for future generations of farmers and contractors??
  7. Looking forward to seeing the 1/16th version Lee....... it be one hell of a tractor
  8. Glad your liking the benefits of the 4wd then Bill, at times it's a great bonus.
  9. Grand job Will, i'm liking that ....... you just need a roll of sheep netting or 3 and a few fencing stoops thrown in the back of a trailer and your ready for a days fencing Good work bud
  10. Looks great Lee some good work there and a tractor that not too many people have a go at. Well done............... (when you starting a 1/16th version???)
  11. Thanks for the comments Neil, i'm glad you like. There a blue and grey residing in the family at the minute that has a silver exhaust, but that one on the narrow wheels. The 5000 major type would come in bits fairly easily, if you going to try a repaint.... i had bits left over from other builds i've done so just swapped parts onto the orginal standard blue and grey releases.
  12. How you liking the 4wd at carparks and shows Bill??? by the look of your boots from the weekend you would have needed it?
  13. Looking good........ Having the working ram in is something that isn't done that often. will look good on the back of that 7600
  14. MMMMMMM they could be expensive but Andy Sewell of Classic Combines could be worth a try.......... he has a few patterns in his portfolio so he might have something similar to what your looking for......................
  15. Sounds like that could be a plan Bill............ I'll consult with the powers that be as we've yet to finalise plans for those few days but i'm sure we could sort something out. Your a mighty fine bloke Bill........... must remember a wee dram when i'm up your neck of the woods!!
  16. Hahaha........ sounds like your sinister side is coming out Bill Just spotted the Super major a bit further up the thread with it's set of front wheel weights inboard the tin front wheels............. you suggested the foot throttle now i'm tempted by wieghting the front wheels
  17. something a bit different, plus the under swept exhaust a bit different too
  18. Glad to see you've manage'd to get " a day at the plough" Bill
  19. your definatley one of the good old boys Bill............ if i didn't work the hours that i do i wouldn't be able to afford to collect Andys models let alone convert these UH tractors
  20. Back in the good old days Bill.......... how times change!! what would take a week and half now takes a day and a half............... and seems to have lost the feeling of the occasion! I'd best get a start on a buckrake!!!!!
  21. Will have to do that Bill, thats a great idea .......... At least there a bit of time before Silage Season to get the buckrake built!
