  5. NC contracting's silaging fleet has grown alot since the late 1990's, still operating from it's Derbyshire base it now harvest's silage across the whole of the east midlands. The old fleet of JCB fastracs has now been replaced by a fleet of Massey Fergusons, the high horse power 8200 series and smaller 6200 series now do the transporting of the silage from from field to clamp using Krampe Tridem 24-ton trailers and smaller 12-ton Biljsma Hercules trailers. A 240HP Massey Ferguson 8270 now mows with a set of Claas Disco triple mowers and new for 2006 a MF 5455 and Claas Liner 3000 12m rake. All these high output machines meant NC Contracting had to switch from there favoured pull type harvester, a JF FC1050 and switch to a self propelled harvester, the 620HP Claas Jaguar 900 Speedstar. The 40kph transmission fitted to the Jaguar meant we could get from job to job faster saving down time and lets us make the most of the ever changing UK weather. The clamp work is now done by two JCB loading shovels, most people would say thats overkill for just one harvester but it allows us to take more time over the buckraking and rolling of the clamp. Buckraking is without a doubt the most important job of the whole operation and when the operation is rushed it can mean bad silage will be made. NC contractings fleet of Massey Ferguson 8200 and 6200 series tractors with Krampe and Biljsma Hercules trailers parked up at there base in Derbyshire.

The 6920 is probably Neil green, big red Marshall or Bailey trailer I think he has or maybe his new red and yellow 20-tonner The TX36 will be Bowlers contractors at a guess, there from Kedleston so wouldn't be too far out for them. There's loads of combining on the A52 Ashboune to Derby and if you want to see the big tackle go to Longerford or Long Lane to be precise, that was combine heaven last weekend :P
