Farming action between Rhine and Northsea (Netherlands)
Tellarian replied to Richard de Florennes's topic in Farm Talk
Welcome back, used to sail up the Schelde and Maas, always good to look down from the bridge at the farming scenes! -
Believe this is an ex Kettle Produce machine. Base machine is a Horsch Terra Trac 350, originally a carrot harvester. believe two sorts of harvester, one that lifts from the tops and one that lifts the roots. Also heard these machines used to travel from north to south carrot havesting for the multiples, season going from July to March - I am sure Marky and the Vegge folk can fill in the rest. Correction in edit: Machine is and ASA Lift (Denmark) on the Horsch skid unit. pictures and vids, Marky restrain yourself. http://asa-lift.com.web15.123test.dk/catalog/category-view.aspx?id=a2115fe8-9bad-4778-93a1-ae51ef8d4b7a

Hi Tris - what is the make of the hookloader trailer??

A question .... Many farms have for years kept a yard runabout / scraper tractor. MF 35x's, 135's Ford Dexta's, Ford 4/5000's etc were very common, almost obligatory. Many were bought new to the farm, and have soldiered on ever since. However many are now being restored as 'Grandad's tractor' or to have a working classic. Others are being sold on or cashed in as a restorable classic. So, what will be the yard runabout for the future, or, has the jack of all trades the telehandler taken on the mantle??

Question?? Did Jez secretly make it to Grassland..... ?? ''Fire up the triple Jezmundo! '' http://www.fwi.co.uk/Articles/2009/05/14/115615/video-the-stigs-cousin-breaks-cover-at-grassland-uk.html

Like it or loathe it, silage has become an integral part of the pastoral farming scene. From family run mixed farms, to multi million dairy units, silage has become the principal source of feed and forage. As this forum covers both the mainland and the Emerald Isle, it would be interesting to see who uses what and where??

Also clocked this What goes around comes around.

Think the server having an off day - broke off while uploading then zilch... Hence repeat. Skid unit is a Lite Trac, 240hp Cummins, Dana six speed pershits, air bag suspension self levelling. Designed for hi cap sprayers - 4000 - 7000 litres, lime spreaders, muck spreader. hard to get good pics as in a narrow stand and it filled it. http://www.farmersguardian.com/story.asp?storycode=23907

Surprised nobody clocked these..

Came across this on another Forum - couldn't resist reposting it here : The 7 Dwarfs & The Pope... The Seven dwarfs go to the Vatican , and because they are the seven dwarfs, they are immediately ushered in to see the Pope. Grumpy leads the pack. 'Grumpy, my son,' says the Pope, 'What can I do for you?' Grumpy asks, 'Excuse me your Excellency, but are there any dwarf Nuns in Rome?' The Pope wrinkles his brow at the odd question, thinks for a moment and answers, 'No, Grumpy, there are no dwarf nuns in Rome.' In the background, a few of the dwarfs start giggling. Grumpy turns around and glares, silencing them. Grumpy turns back, 'Your Worship, are there any dwarf nuns in all Of Europe ?' The Pope, puzzled now, again thinks for a moment and then answers, 'No, Grumpy, there are no dwarf nuns in Europe . 'This time, all of the other dwarfs burst into laughter. Once again, Grumpy turns around and silences them with an angry Glare. Grumpy turns back and says, 'Mr. Pope! Are there ANY dwarf nuns Anywhere in the world?' The Pope, really confused by the questions says, 'I'm sorry, my Son, there are no dwarf nuns anywhere in the world.' The other dwarfs collapse into a heap, rolling and laughing, Pounding the floor, tears rolling down their cheeks, as they begin Chanting...... 'Grumpy shagged a penguin!' 'Grumpy shagged a penguin!'

Can of worms as Deere use slightly different designations in the USA. Over there IIRC, the small frame 74/5 30 deeres equate to the higher end 68/6930's on Europe, end yes they come with 42 inch wheels, however with smaller section tyres. US row crop use has awlways leant that way. http://www.deere.com/specsapp/CustomerSpecificationServlet?sbu=Ag&pciModel=7430%20RW&displayModelName=7430%20Premium%20Tractor%20(140%20PTO%20hp)&tM=FR&pNbr=7430_RW http://www.deere.co.uk/region_ii/media/application/equipment/agriculture/tractors/6030_premium/brochure_6030_premium_en.pdf The Michelin book gives 520/85R38's dia 1855mm 480/80R42's dia 1855mm So QED yes this can be an option on the tractors. I would venture that Viking looking at US sales also where that would be the common fit.
