  1. Yesterday I got an email from Sinclair's of Inverurie saying B1527 "When Push Comes To Shove" was in stock. Year 24 of the Annual Tractor and my one is number 52 of 500 and the 75 th BFA tractor in my collection excluding horses and lorries and BFA membership ones in total 105.....I'm running out of room so I'm thinking after a quarter of a century and year 25 I maybe need to start downsizing or extend my house As they say..."its really a dogs life"
  2. Yes I would be the same John...typical Britain's loads of variations out there
  3. Yesterday a conman and time waster from from Holland. Yesterday as I was going the back road from Kemnay to Inverurie with my trailer I looked in my mirror and there was a VW Golf with foreign plates hard on my tail then on a straight part of the road flashing of lights so I duly slowed down thinking there was something wrong with my trailer. The chap spoke good English as seemed genuine and was pointing to a map saying he was coming from Inverurie and was lost. I said that he was heading towards Inverurie. He said he needed to get to Aberdeen then the ferry at Newcastle. Being the helpful person I am I said to follow me and i would take him down to the roundabout at Morrisons and then he could not go wrong. He then said he was selling Swiss Rikon knives and had 4 boxes left and he would gladly give them away since he would not get through customs with them since not in a locked box. Anway he proceeded to show me them and said I could have two boxes all I needed was pay the VAT at £ 140. I said I wasn't interested and had no money but he persisted and went on to show me pans. By this time he had wasted enough of my time and I said look I'm in a hurry follow me and I will show you the way to Aberdeen. He was still persisting saying he would me an offer on all 4 sets of knives I could not refuse....NO NO follow me. Anyway he followed me for a short distance and then stopped and turned back. I wish now I had the presence of mind to take his registration number and report him to the police.
  4. Looking good Mike. I always like to try and do things myself (except plumbing) since I try to go that bit extra and gets things looking right. In addition I find there is the sense of self achievement in doing something that is actually your job or profession
  5. Today I got my first compressor (which was taking up valuable storage space at Drumoak) moved up to the second deck at the back of the garage at Kemnay. It will be useful for blowing up trailer and car tyres and dusting off after sanding etc.
  6. There are undesirable characters ( aka bully's) who do such things John especially when you don't have a witness...but from recent experiences John I would advise you to record the conversations as I have had to do personally over the past 2 months.
  7. You may want to be that age again Bas but your date of birth and age on your profile does not add to 34 or at least not the school of arithmetic I was taught at...good try though
  8. Happy saving grace Pops and happy down on your knees Bas
  9. Today at my Kemnay garage I decided there was wasted space above my late father's Howard 350 rotovator so I decided to put a second floor above the Howard. All very cheap since I had already removed a single bed frame from the loft which gave me the metal frame to angle grind and the look a like "beech" wood along the sides to act as hangers to the garage roof couples. The top for storing stuff was a sheet of blockboard which was dad's cutting sheet for glass and was yet another of his talents and another trade I have yet to try Anyway all finished but some gardening stuff goes home to Drumoak and me thinks I need to take over my first compressor and clear space at Drumoak and have "some air" at Kemnay.
  10. Today when I stopped off at Earnvale Tractors the John Deere dealers at Balbeggie on my way to the G&M event at the Holiday Inn Express at Perth I got a phone call from writer and historian Pete Small asking me about some models he had ordered from G&M and also about the two ploughing matches in Cupar on Saturday and Sunday, After that he told me Joe Watson the Farming Editor of the Press and Journal had died last night. I could not believe it since Joe is only 43 and I have emailed and spoken to him over the past 3 years in connection with promoting the Aberdeen Model show and also seen and spoken to him at various agricultural shows and also ploughing matches. Very very sad and it cracks me up when good and talented folk like Joe are taken from us at too early and age...RIP Joe. Press and Journal farming editor Joe Watson dies Joe Watson became the P&J's farming editor in 1996 The Press and Journal's award-winning agricultural editor Joe Watson has died at the age of 43. Mr Watson joined the regional newspaper as a young reporter after first working at his home town's weekly paper, the Turriff Advertiser, in Aberdeenshire. A former pupil and prefect at Turriff Academy, he became the Press and Journal's farming editor in 1996. Editor-in-chief Damian Bates said Mr Watson had been a "brilliant journalist". He said: "Joe was a beautiful human being, a gentle giant and a skilled reporter who knew his subject inside and out. "I can't believe he's been taken from us - we're all heartbroken." Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead offered his condolences to Mr Watson's family, friends and colleagues. He said: "I am shocked and saddened to hear that we have lost Joe Watson and, like so many people, I can't quite believe that he's no longer with us. "I have known and worked with Joe for over 20 years since his days as a local reporter and in his role as the Press and Journal's farming man." In a tribute, the Scottish Farmer magazine described Mr Watson as a hard working, campaigning journalist who had not been afraid to ask awkward questions.
  11. You should be alright Robert....when they ask "fit like" just answer "nae bad" Thats not a bad price and well if you can do these jobs your self that is good since labour charges if outsourced can mount up very very quickly.

  16. It will be under events and shows if anywhere. I was asked to do coverage of the display for Rory Day at Classic Tractor so I may well have posted the remaining balance of photos I took after the article was published. If not there was a picture in Classic Tractor.
  17. I remember spreading dung with a pals father one L reg. There were big powerful beasts in their day. I always remember my pal saying it was the best loader tractor he ever had and wish he had kept it. I suppose it is the usual story most folk need the trade in money to upgrade to a newer tractor.
  18. Neither have I Brian...just what my elders have told me
