  1. Wish you all the best Robert...and maybe an article for CLASSIC TRACTOR on Eric Gibson
  2. A busy sounding weekend Sean... but ones I like...time does indeed fly when you are enjoying yourself
  3. Today I decided since it was such nice weather I would paint my mother's garage door since the paint had gone flat and each time you touched the door you got copper beach stains on your fingers. Not my preferred colour for a door but well dad had at least still more than 1/2 of a tin of Dulux Trade paint left so I thought I might as well use it since my late dad did not like waste. Anyway a couple of mum's neighbours thought I was doing a fine job and it matched in with the house so that made me feel not so bad ..in fact if the weather is as good tomorrow I will give it a second coat since if I don't the reaming paint in the tin will just solidify
  4. Sink or swim Sean.... good luck but I have been there and done it and I have to say it is challenging and it "could " maybe work out to your advantage
  5. Best of luck Robert...best get your self a Doric book of words since if its one of the two areas I thin are going well I think you may well need it to understand what the locals are saying
  6. Personally Tim ... I think it is good these saying's are kept alive and passed down. It was only yesterday at the Black Isle Ploughing match at Conon - Bridge did Ian William's from Maud in Aberdeenshire mention to me it was Candlemas Day the next day to which I retorted ( Be clear and fair) since I can only remember that few lines that my late father would have said like poetry in motion to me. I regret now I did not write down some of his saying's but at least I have the memory of the ones I remember
  7. It's 15.45 on Candlemas day here in Aberdeenshire and it has been dry and fair most of the day and the sun is still up.....but what does this mean The old proverbs say...but are they true If Candlemas day be clear and bright Winter will have another fight If Candlemas day brings cloud and rain Winter won't come again Well... I do hope ancient proverbs are wrong since the sun is still shining here in Aberdeenshire...and I like it...the days are getting longer
  8. Aye but I'm sure you will make up for it when you get home
  9. It's a small small world as they say Kenny. Here is the said Davy Kirkpatrick at the Scottish Ploughing Championship at Wick last year and he was placed 1st in the trailing class. And the lorry he uses for his tractor and plough...a bit different to the BFA one if its the same man
  10. Lynn Whitehead Cakes Limited......a business in the horizon me thinks
  11. I had to laugh at that last post Joe....had you been a prisoner of war you would have been the camp scrounger since whatever was asked for you would have searched for and found it
  12. Yes Kenny he was. When the lorries came out I said I would not buy but I have waited and now got three at discounted prices. There is also a horse box one and a tanker one that I know of but I'm not so keen on them...unless the price is right
  13. Four turnips aka "neeps" at a farm shop at Auchterless on route home from Turriff the home of the "turrra coo" for £2..I must try one this evening and see how good or bad since well.... Burn's night is looming ....... " Haggis , neeps and tatties"
  14. A trip to the home of the "Turra Coo" today saw me buy a 3rd BFA lorry for my collection since it was on sale and 20% off B1330 Easy Picking Limited Edition No 120 of a Classic Collection (made in Scotland) of 500.
  15. For this time of year a rather mild day so I decided to sort out some scrap from my late fathers garage and two lofts and some things from my own garage. A trip to the scrap man is needed some afternoon next week me thinks.
  16. looking good John.... keep them coming.
  17. You been "felling" trees per chance today Justin
  18. Of course back to work tomorrow Shaun. I'm off until next Tuesday but have to work on Saturday the 4th but that can be done offline as long as I have internet access and my works laptop. Again wishing all fellow FTF members a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
  19. I recall hearing the story of a farmer and son from Oldmeldrum had a big problem doing that to one turkey one year since it was more a kin to the size of an ostrich than a turkey......not to be beaten they managed to draw its neck with the aid of the the bench vice in the workshop.
