  1. Yesterday I picked up another BFA B1481 - A Bit of A Stretch BMB Diesel Farmall and 4 wheeled bogie
  2. Oh I'm disappointed in an old truck driver shying away from a show up North Joe ...I recon it's only 140 miles away and around 3 hours from you...not much longer then from Kinross to me then the Treetops in Aberdeen...but I appreciate what you are saying...one never knows what the roads are going to be like at that time of the year.Back on topic I look forward to seeing your build and that may well be the evening of Saturday 8th March 2014 if your are at home since I will be at the G&M Perth event at the Holiday Inn Express on Saturday then the Fife Vintage ploughing match on the Sunday if its on or if not Kenny and Shirley's show at Gretna.
  3. Joe... another fine looking creation and me things you need to finish it and take it up the "Back Highland" road to Callum Morrison's 2nd show at Dingwall Academy in March 2014. I don't plan to exhibit ( its not my scene really since me thinks I'm at my best when I flutter around and sting like a bee ..)...I really only took a small table to support the first show and help get it going but time to back out and allow other folk like yourself and maybe the Beeton's from the Central Belt to come up to Dingwall which was a really amazing show for the first year. For year two I'll try and promote the show with flyers and posters whilst I still have access to free photocopying facilities but after 31/03/2014 the chances of me getting free good quality printing and photocopying are not looking good.I must get in contact with Callum shortly to see what date has been booked if it has been and to see what I can do to help to promote this charitable show.
  4. Best wishes in your new home Sue...shame its a bit far away for me for the house warming party
  5. Checked my 2 lines Saturday and Wednesday on National Lotto and found I had 4 winning lines of 3 numbers on four tickets from May to September this year so I collected £ 40 today Mind you with lotto changing and £ 2 a line I may drop one line even although they have increased 3 winning numbers from £ 10 to £ 25...I'm still undecided since it is the only form of "gambling" I do...but then they do say you have to speculate to accumulate
  6. Happy birthday David and Shaun....were you twins and went your own ways..... ...some how I don't think so with the different accents...and the question I have to ask who is the oldest...well Shaun has least hair but is he really older and taller than David Joking apart two great chap's and was good to meet up with them both at Lanark last weekend and hope to meet them again next year since I have not renewed my passport to England for the remainder of this year
  7. When I was at the Alford Heritage Center Festival on Sunday there were two traders selling secondary Border Fine Arts. As much as I lked th lorry ones I always said Iw as not going to start them but seeing two minters in boxes and with cetificats and at very very good price I made teh choice to buy. After that I spied two versuions of the Early Start but I could not remember which one I had. A quick check at hoame and a telephopne call to leve a message to say I wanted the one with the ginger cat and it secured it for me and I collected and paid for on the Monday. JH91A Early Start - issued 1993
  8. Yes I think it is a good deal Tim plus Dobies send them direct to you in January or february. The society used to use Suttons and personally I think they were better but for whatever reason they have been using Dobies for quite a number of year now.
  9. I never thougt if buying seeds cheaper at the back end time Tim. My late uncle was a director of the Aberdeen Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen and he joined me up. I rarely attended the shows and never the meetings but being a membe for £10 a year entitles you to getting Dobies seeds with 45% discount so I think that is a good deal.
  10. A Hozelock 2515 Sprinkler with 8 settings from Amazon £ 13.14 delivered to replace the one I have have had for nearly 25 years. That one started to show wear and tear a few years ago and I bought a cheap and nasty one from Screwfix which only lasted a few years at the most. I suppose its all about what you get is what you pay for so I hope this replacement is as good as my first one. I have tried it on two settings and it works well, I was pleased with the price including delivery....I must pop in past the local garden center a mile down the road to see what price they are retailing them at....since well they can charge as well as the Queens Cavalry
  11. Good to see you back on here Rob...I was afraid you had curled up and died .....I hope the interview went well and you get the promotion. Personally I'm counting the time to my redundancy package (supposedly 31st March 2014) after almost 26 years with Halliburton through various take overs and continuous employment so I can have at least 9 months out before even thinking of getting another full time job....unless of course some contract or consultancy work tempts me
  12. Raining cats and dogs today and forecast for much of the day. I don't think I will be going for a soaking at the Clatt and District Vintage rally today.
  13. Thunder, lighting and heavy rain in Drumoak...oh well at least I won't have to water the lawn today
  14. It's amazing what is on offer at reasonable prices at some of these charity shops David and the good thing is it is money that is going to a charity and not ending up in a landfill tip. I only discovered the "Magpie" warehouse in Inverurie following the death of my uncle Sandy last November. I managed to offload a lot of furniture and unused new clothes, curtains and kitchen appliances and utensils and have since ended up visiting and buying one large display unit and two corner display units...one without a base unit but that was even better since it fitted in the corner in my lounge about my TV.
  15. Yes Barry...nice but finding it hard to do any physical outdoor work...around 22 degrees in Drumoak as we speak.
  16. Don't get me wrong Paul...I not knocking all estate agents just this one (who is a qualified solicitor but certainly not proficient in dealing with executory work) I have had the misfortune of dealing with. Sadly there are good an bad workers in all trades and professions.
  17. I hope it goes to plan Sue....buying and selling is never easy,,,,and well from experience estate agents and so called solicitor's can be deceiving and hard work to deal with...maybe just what I have encountered over the past seven month's but let me say I have not had the last word yet with the partner of the firm I bought my house via and also my grand dad's solicitors and his son's since they have not acted in a very professional way in my opinion. regarding my late uncle's Sandy's estate..I may be being harsh but my standards are high and I expect every one else to be the same...but maybe I live in a dream world these days
  18. A new Hozelock 7 position Multi Spray Pro to replace my old one which broke after being dropped but has done many years of dedicated service than I care to remember I looked in the local garden center and they wanted £ 26.99 and even with their gardeners club members discount of 10% I thought £ 24.29 was a tad expensive. Anyway a look on Amazone and I got one delivered free for £15.25 saving 37% on the discounted garden center price. I try to support local business places when ever I can but not at that rip off price I'm afraid. I think the old one must have been left out in the sun too long
  19. I went to Glamis Castle near Forfar in Angus for the 39th Scottish Transport Extravaganza from 6.30 am until 2.15 pm (tractor less a rather annoying story..but hey ho I must be there next year for the 40th Show) especially since I have been showing either my Ransomes MG2 crawler from 1985 or my Farmall A from 1987 and then my Farmall Cub from 2000 and in some years two tractors. It was a.great show but rather warm...hence the early departure before the mayhem trying to get away at close of play...then I collected a Border Fine Art figurine I had bought a while back at Edzell on the way home.
