  1. I note Archbarch's and 1H's comments. I certainly think it will be more difficult to restore such tractors however I hope the younger generation keep up the trend of collecting and preserving our heritage and items of interest in the future.

    What a beast!!!

If he's got that kind of money perhaps he would like to bring it accross to Scotland to a working day event we are holding in Aberdeenshire on the 19th & 20th May ? It would be so nice to see pitch her up against some of those County's !!!
  3. I honestly can't see them as being collectable as in the past especially with all the electronic add on's. You don't have to be the brain of britian to work on some of the present classics but I suspect you will need to be a rocket scientist to work on some of these modern day ones in the future.
  4. You can never tell a bit like gambling you can win or loose. Anything limited does tend to command a price. Take the last Marshall MP6 where only 197 were made. Apparantly useless tractors and behind in time but these examples can fetch the ? 70,000 mark these days.
  5. Can you make bales like this too TT?

    What a beast!!!

Was reading the Tractor and Machinery magazine last night and Peter Love the editor did a report on the Cheffins sale. Note he said prices have to be verified by the auctioners. The caption was Lot 3026* 1973 international 3588 (Snoopy) 10344 Straight good luck! Condition 7 ? 10,000 * Vat to be added. I would quess there would also have been a buyers premium PS Like the latest pictures especially the comparsion to smaller sister
  7. Nice pictures of your TW15. How old is the "old girl" and what the HP etc?
  8. Perhaps more fun trying to reverse the seed drill on to the transporter?
  9. Cold start at 2 degrees at 6 am here in Aberdeen with thick fog and poor visibility. I'm sure the sun will burn it off and will be another fine day.

    What a beast!!!

You could do road runs with her and rip the sides of parked cars though!!! Nothing wrong with being mad about Internationals. I've got three dating from the early 40's to the mid 50's are they are wonderfully engineered machines.

  18. I can relate to a couple of real life stories about Landy's and Cruisers and both vehicles are good in their own right. Story 1 A friend of my father has a croft in the countryside where he collects ferguson tractors mainly the "grey menances". One was on loan to a local musuem and one night when we were there the musuem curator took it back on a trailer pulled by a clapped out looking Series 11 (I think) Landrover. In order for the Landy to get to where the tractor was being off loaded my fathers friend (Bill) had to shift his 4.2 litre automatic Toyota Landcruiser up a round a steep hill in the field adjacent to the shed. Well that big beast with wide road tyres just roared and skidded about but eventually managed to climb the hill just. The old Landy came round the corner and walked up the hill with it narrow tyres with ease and no effort. Well you can image Bill was a bit upset and had to say something " well he had weight on his tail to give him traction" One nil to the Landy at this stage. Story 2 One evening the same said Crusier driver took my father and myself to see his brother in law fishing his salmon nets close to Aberdeen Harbour. When we got to the bothy ( 6 salmon fishers used this in years gone by - they had 2 x 3 storey high bunk beds) Raymond who only does this a a hobby part time job was already away down in the beach with his 6 cylinder Fordson major conversion. We proceeded down the steep sand dune hill road in pursuit of Raymond. I did say on the way down to Bill but how are we going to get back up?? He said that Raymond would pull him back with the tractor if he got stuck. We spent an hour or so fishing the nets and I was amazed as we waded in the North Sea how warm it actually was. Raymond advised it was because there was now a lot of cloud cover and that was holding the heat in!!! It was a good night for Raymond about 20 odd salmon. He said we should come more often!! Well time to go home.Bill speed along the beach at what seemed 50 to 60 mph before hitting the hill. We were tossing from side to side but low and behold the cruiser climbed that hill. I only wish I had had a steering wheel to hold onto. I think Bill was rather happy with himself proving the point that crusiers can climb hill!!! One all betwen The crusier and the landy.

I agree totally with what you are saying. I used to have a 1956 Grey Fergusonn TEF 20 which I think I bought back in 1982 / 1983 for ? 200 and the guy a vet gave me a a handful of notes back as a luck penny . ? 9.00 I recall so the net cost was ? 191. I restored this one and then laid it up at a friends in 1988 for many years. When I came to move it it was covered in bird droppings and the clutch stuck. Luckly got it freed by driving over a bumpy park (field). This saved a bunch of time by not having to split the tractor. I sold the tractor to a retired farmer including the mill loader for ? 800 back in 1996. Sadly the man died and at his roup of vintage tractors and implements a few years ago the loader made ? 180 and the tractor made ? 2,600. The only thing he did was put on new tyres all round Goodyears and a fan belt. The motto is don't sell unless you have to. I was happy with the ?800 I got at the time and in fact it went towards buying and restoring my first Farmall cub.
  23. Whilst on the Landrover subject I'm looking for the following one. Does anyone know of one for sale? Landrover Discovery No 40548 by Britains in metallic green
